Bench press isn't necessarily a great barometer of strength. Some people are built to bench, others aren't.

Possibly.

I think Ware did 27 reps and he was fairly stout his rookie year.

Unless he's some kind of freak or received very bad training, his arm strength is a good indicator of the rest of his body's strength.

So he's not big, not strong, and trying to out-muscle Tyron Smith. Sooner or later something had to give, and it was his foot. And it didn't just twist or sprain the damned thing broke.

A fluke is when you drop a weight on your toe and break it. This was no fluke.
And still breaking his foot had nothing to do with his strength, basketball players have this same injury is that because the are weak?

What's really hilarious is that he had 2 benches less than your boy Ealy who outweighed him by 20 plus pounds.

Is Ealy not big and strong enough as well?

In this case the walking boot fits.

I mean, are you saying he's not undersized? Or that 20 bench press reps is not relatively weak?
I thought you were smart enough to know that BP results are not that important unless they are in the low teens.

Sorry, I want a flexible DE with quickness and enough functional football strength, not some stiff short armed hulk who can throw up 35 reps on the bench.

Sad, but maybe it tempers expectations. To many, this guy is supposed to replace a Hall of Famer's production.

Lawrence will probably never be a year-in, year-out 14 sack guy. And he's a player I like a lot.
Year in, year out 14 sack guys are fairly rare.

And if you listen to our front office and head coach, hey, we can just replace what Ware did with like two guys. No big deal.

He is still upright, and did not cost us a starting guard. Ealy's cone drills are faster (in fact they were fastest at the combine), and I know he can take on double-teams because he was asked to do that and more at Missouri.

Lawrence is not all that fast, either, at least not 2nd + 3rd round pick fast.

I'll back off of this, after all people do get hurt, but this is shaping up to be yet another disaster of a pick (or should I say two picks).
