The reason would be to delay the immediate collapse of the coming season if we were faced with Weeden starting for a full 16 weeks. That would be nightmarish for all of us. Best to delay that type of death knell as long as possible.

That might be one of the dumbest things I've read on here in some time. You seriously think if they knew Romo wasn't going to play the season, they'd just hide it until the season started? They wouldn't try to salvage what they could of the season?
