Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Henry Melton, who signed with the team this off-season, joined "The Afternoon Show with Cowlishaw and Mosley" on KESN-FM 103.3 on Wednesday. Here are some highlights from the interview:

On his health and if he will be doing full conditioning July 22 at training camp:

Melton: “I will be doing the conditioning test but it’s pretty much up to them if they want to have me full go. But I don’t think I’ll be full go, but I’ll definitely be in the mix. … I’m pretty much 100 percent confident for the (season opener against the) 49ers I’ll be definitely ready.”

On DeMarcus Lawrence having to replace DeMarcus Ware:

Melton: “You know what, he looks really good. I never practiced with D Ware or anything, but I definitely saw him play. But he has some comparisons. He has the size and he definitely has the athleticism. He just needs to work on his techniques and getting his rookie legs under him.”

On going to Mavericks and Stars playoffs games and embracing all the sports:

Melton: “I’m from here so I’m just a Dallas fan at heart for sure; I even go to the Rangers games. I was a baseball fan growing up. And I just got into hockey because of the Blackhawks in Chicago and from going to those games, I kind of brought it down south with me and it just happens that the Stars got into the playoffs and I was excited to go.”

On having a mix of veterans and younger guys on the defense, and how that helps:

Melton: “Yeah there’s going to be a big mix. I feel like we are — there’s a lot of young guys. We don’t have very many veterans, but there’s going to be a big mix, so it’s definitely going to be fun to watch.”

On if he spoke with former Dallas Cowboys player Jeremiah Ratliff while the two of them were with the Bears for the end of the 2013 season:

Melton: “You know what, he knew I was from there and II thin he thought I said something with the Cowboys. He did talk to me about the cowboys before he even knew I was considering coming here, and then he talked to me again when I was considering coming here. You know what, I’m not really at liberty to say what he said about the Cowboys. But it wasn’t too good.”

I would love to hear what Ratliff said.

Man, Ratliff is some kind of piece of shit. You'd think he'd have a bit more gratitude for an organization that took a chance on him and made him as wealthy as they did. I don't even get what the guys problem is, it's not like he was wronged in some terrible way or anything.

Loved Jay his first few years, but that extension was stupid. He seemed to have Jerry by the nards.

Yeah that was a terrible extension. He was already 29 and undersized.
