Can't believe we've gotten to the point where being desperate for an upgrade over Costa means thrilled with a 1st round reach.
My attitude towards Frederick as a player has little to do with costa. He has talent and can play multiple positions of need.

Jerry lying through his teeth -- "We were unanimous in deciding to trade down."

Jerruh: "We like our tackles better than we do our quality in the middle"

Jerruh: "We did draft to our board. We were true to our scouts."

Stephen: "Were there players graded higher than Frederick at #18? Yes. But were they worth more than getting two players?"

Jerruh: "We had 19 players with a 1st round grade."

Jerruh: "It was unanimous that we should trade down at #18."

... at a high level.

This is like getting Max Unger in the first. Half a round reach.

But you know what? If we were gonna waste it on a TE, I'll live.

This is better than wasting two picks on one cornerback by far. Also better than dicking around, getting cute and getting Robert Brewster, a guy who was not only a reach, but a complete project who was not ready to play, and had limited upside even if he did cash in on his potential.

This is a reach on a player who is still gonna be a long term starter.

Will hope for the best. Just seemed like a reach, though he wasn't only OL who someone reached for.

I agree, I don't care if he is at center or guard, if he can actually blow some holes open and hold his ground against the pass rush I don't care where he is playing. I think we just got a guy who will start on the O-line for a long time. Give me three long term starters in this draft and I'm thrilled. We took the first step with Frederick in my opinion.

Did Pats get this much grief when they reached for Mankins? Not making a comparison of the players, just of the picks.

Jerruh: "We invented trade charts."

Asshole. Nobody currently with the Cowboys invented the trade charts.

There's no doubt Frederick was a reach. I would argue we could have gotten better players in Warford, Short, or a few others. But on the other hand I do believe this pick strengthens the interior of our OL -- which we desperately needed to do. So I can't get worked up about it. It's just what you have to accept if you're going to follow the Cowboys under the Jones regime.

This is how I look at it and I know damn well and good that all of us would trade a 1st for Unger right now.

I had Frederick in the same group as Pugh and Long, we saw where they went, I prefer him over Eric Reid and we see where he went. Taking him at 31 is a slight reach but let's say we took Cyprien or Elam, Frederick would have been my top choice at 47, so am I mad that we took him 16 picks earlier when I would have been thrilled with him at 47?

Not in the least.

I'm more pissed that we didn't take Floyd at 18 or that we didn't get a little more out of the Niners but I have no problem with Frederick at 31.

Another upside with Frederick. He is very, very smart.

And we talk about all the time getting smart OLs.

This is a smart and tough OL.

I think he will stick. That is important for this team, at least. Can't afford another miss on the OL, like a guy like Menelik Watson might have been.

I had Pugh higher but Long lower.

I mentioned James Carpenter, Eric Wood, and others. Mankins is another good one. He was an easy half a round to a round reach.

But they identified a tough smart player and he developed into a very good one.

I seem to remember being surprised when Mankins was taken there. Maybe I'm misremembering.
You know what...I think I'm misremembering. I confused Mankins with Mangold. Nick Mangold is the true 1st rounder.

Can somebody please explain to me what in the flying fuck the Jets are going to do with Sheldon Richardson running a 3-4?

They have Coples and Wilkerson both playing at a very high level at DE in that defense, so where is Richardson going to play?

OLB? NT?

Nope.

Retarded pick.

Whatever. I'm just sick of waiting for this team to get a clue. We all have been fans for a long time and I'm just sick of Jerry. Maybe this pick won't turn out to suck but I'm not holding my breath. Just can't get excited about them anymore. Jerry has sucked out all of my passion for this team.

The Jets are in close competition with Jerry for worse run franchise. Other than being avid CB whores they seem to have no idea what they want to do.

Yeah, that was dumb. If he gets by them, maybe Lotulelei falls to us. Of course, if they don't take him, themselves then.
