Quick question for the soccer pros.

Is the USA allowed to have possession of the ball? Watching Belgium dominate the ball I wasn't sure if the US was allowed to possess it or not.

They did the same against Germany.

Very lazy and inattentive passing and ball handling by the US.

We are not playing this way on purpose.

This has been the biggest reason why we haven't really made any major strides as a nation or made a real mark on world soccer - we simply lack the skill and technique necessary to maintain possession.

You need players with ball handling, dribbling, vision, and playmaking in your midfield and we've never truly had that.

The one decent guy we have in this regard is Bradley, and he's played poorly in this cup.

Every time we play one of the world's solid teams, we always get dominated in possession. That's just the way it is.

Props to Tim Howard. If he wasn't on the top of his game Belgium's probably up at least 3-0.

I don't know what they call it in soccer but I'll just use an NBA term.....the transition defense by the US has been horrible.

They've taken several bad angles and left gaping holes in their defense when trying to defend on breakways.

Donovan is one of those guys and we miss him. Jurgen has these guys playing so I won't question him, but the ability to set a play up is sorely missed. If this thing goes to PKs, he'll be missed there too. He was money in those situations.
