I don't get how he felt he was ready for that...although the Nets are screwed for the foreseeable future.
From what I read, he was pissed at the deals other guys like Kerr and Fisher got and he wanted more.

He signed the deal...and they even stuck with him after he DUId into a telephone pole. Not only that, but at his request they made Frank the highest paid asst in the league...then Kidd demoted him. Douche bag.

For a guy who is still unproven as a coach, Kidd sure has some ego regarding his worth.

I've never been a huge fan of Kidd and this whole ordeal makes it even harder to stomach him.

If I'm Brooklyn I gladly let him walk and rot away in Milwaukee. Frankly, the Nets could do a lot better and this would be a huge blessing in disguise.

The Nets tried this year, but that was really a one year shot. The East still is weak, so maybe they get to the 2nd round again, but that is the best they can hope for. Hollins may get the job now...if I am Jackson I stay far away from it.

Now it looks like Kidd is going to get everything he wanted from Mil...amazing. Drew has been there one year with a horrid roster and is now being forced out by Kidd...that can't be cool with the coaching fraternity.

Derrick Rose isn't going to recruit Carmelo Anthony.

The Chicago Bulls' point guard reiterated that point again Sunday, telling Yahoo! Sports that it's "not his job" to be part of a sales pitch to the All-Star forward, who is set to become a free agent Tuesday after opting out of his contract with the New York Knicks. That news won't come as a surprise to a Bulls front office that was never banking on Rose being part of that pitch in the first place. The Bulls are expected to meet with Anthony on Tuesday during the first day of free agency, according to ESPN.com's Marc Stein.

"If they want to come, they can come," Rose told Yahoo! Sports.

What surely sent shockwaves throughout the Bulls' organization late Sunday night was Rose's revelation that he still isn't sure if he wants to participate in Team USA's training camp late next month in Las Vegas.

"I still don't know yet," Rose told Yahoo!. "If I'm feeling right and the time is
, for sure I will go out there. My body is responding good, but you never know."
Rose, who was speaking to kids at a camp run by former teammate Drew Gooden in California, said he would decide whether to participate after discussing it with his agent, B.J. Armstrong. The Bulls have made it clear that they would like for Rose to be a part of the Team USA camp and were hopeful he would secure a place on the squad. Bulls general manager Gar Forman, Team USA head coach Mike Krzyzewski and Bulls head coach -- and Team USA assistant -- Tom Thibodeau have all expressed interest in seeing Rose participate.

"His last experience with Team USA I thought was very helpful for him in terms of readiness for the season -- and that was his MVP year," Thibodeau said on ESPN 1000's NBA draft show last week. "So I think there is a great benefit, particularly in this situation where he's been off for so long. It will let him know where he is also. But from what I've seen thus far I think he's going to be ready and I expect him to play well. As long as he feels well he'll be fine."

The Bulls are going to support Rose in whatever decision he makes, but they have to be concerned that he would even broach the possibility of passing on the camp given how much time he has missed over the past three seasons. The 25-year-old has played in just 49 games over the past three years due to injury, but said he remains confident he can step back on the floor and play at a high level.

"I think I was ready a long time ago," Rose told Yahoo!. "Right now is about just getting all the wrinkles out. I've been playing for a long time, even though nobody has [seen it]. I want to just step on the court and I want people to see that I'm the same."

Forman said last week that Rose has been "aggressive" in his rehab and continues 5-on-5 work in practice. Thibodeau noted that Rose is expected to practice with the Bulls' summer league team. The Bulls have remained outwardly confident regarding Rose's status, but his comments can't be sitting well as they begin the process of trying to woo Anthony and others to Chicago.

"He's doing well," Thibodeau said last Thursday of Rose. "He's picked up the intensity in his workouts. His drill work has been outstanding. And then he's preparing right now to practice with our summer league team. That will be the next step and then the step after that, which will be very helpful for him and helpful for us to give us a pretty good read of where he is, when he gets to participate for Team USA. So he's moving along well, he's right where he should be and then we'll see where he is once we start those practices."

I just don't get that at all...not going to get into a Rose flame war, but I know I'd want my star player to speak on behalf of the team. Saying if they want to come they'll come is just terribly short sighted and undesirable if I am a FA.

Not even going to touch the Rose recruiting because I just don't understand why he needs to say anything.

But I will say I don't ever see him being close to the same guy because his body will never "feel right" again he has had 2 surgeries, I think its in his head now.

I don't know that we'll ever see MVP Derrick Rose again but I still think you'll see top 10 player Derrick Rose again. Maybe not right away but eventually.

I also think that it opens the door for it to be "Melo's team" for the next 2 years. A team that is good enough to win a title with Melo playing #1 option, Rose playing #2 option, and that sick defense, with a couple shooters in McBuckets and Mirotic having been sprinkled in now as well.

We might have to send Mirotic to the Knicks but yea, I generally agree.

Do you see Rose buying into this scenario?

And I do not see Rose being a top 10 guy without his legs being 100 percent or him not trusting them he has no other top 10 skills to rely on.

Supposedly Rose went through a private workout with/for Melo to prove his health, so much for him not being willing to recruit.

Glad he did that because it would have been not very smart for him to be a part of the process. Still don't understand the reasoning for announcing he would not be a part of the process.

Warriors To Sign Shaun Livingston

July 1 at 8:52pm CDT By Zach Links

8:52pm: The Warriors still have a $9.8MM trade exception at their disposal, but they’re hard-capped at a projected $81MM after using the full mid-level on Livingston, tweets Ken Berger of CBSSports.com.

7:45pm: The Warriors have reached agreement on a deal with free agent point guard Shaun Livingston, league sources tell Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports (via Twitter). It’ll be a three-year deal with a partial guarantee in the final season of the contract, Wojnarowski adds (on Twitter). Livingston will earn $16MM, which is the full midlevel exception, according to Sam Amick of USA Today (on Twitter).

The Spurs, Wolves, Kings, Hornets, and Magic all reached out to the 6’7″ guard at the official start of free agency. The Warriors weren’t as heavily linked to Livingston, but it appears that they have come away with one of the more impressive reserve one guards in this year’s free agent crop.

The Nets were facing an uphill battle to keep Livingston in Brooklyn. The guard’s decision to sign with the Nets for the veteran’s minimum last summer was largely tied to his relationship with coach Jason Kidd, who will now be manning the sidelines in Milwaukee. Since Brooklyn is a taxpaying team and only own Livingston’s Non-Bird Rights, the Nets were only able to offer him a contract with a starting salary of $3.278MM through the taxpayer’s mid-level exception, which is smaller than the non-taxpayer’s version he’ll be receiving. After resurrecting his career last season, Livingston found a much better payday elsewhere. His Non-Bird rights would have afforded him just 120% of the minimum salary for next season, which meant it was taxpayer’s mid-level or bust for Brooklyn.
