They seriously underachieved. Teams that end up 2-14 have a lot of give-up, and I think some of that came from upstairs intentionally tanking specifically to get Luck.

When we arrived, they reasserted themselves.
There's something to that, but the talent on that team had gone downhill a lot since their Super Bowl runs. Manning was just barely dragging that team to the playoffs. They hadn't had a good draft in 5 years by that point.

True, Manning hid a lot of garbage and I think we agree though that it was not so much garbage that a decent QB couldn't take them to the playoffs in that weak division.

I know it's not a popular opinion but I think Andrew Luck is extremely overrated. I think he's a good young QB but people act as if he's the best thing to hit the league since a young Peyton Manning. I don't see it.

Again he's a good QB but I think people rate him too highly. And look at the number of INTs he's thrown in the post season. RG3, Kaepernick and other young QBs would get killed if they turned it over at that rate. But no one says anything about Luck since he's the chosen one.
Even if extremely overrated, there's less than a handful of QBs id rather start a franchise with.

I agree. I think there was a lot of quit in that team, plus Jim Caldwell struck me as a guy who was just along for the ride. Once Peyton went down he had to do some real coaching and he couldn't.

Even without Manning that team should have won 6 games.
