Just goes to show you how odd this organization is overall.

Normally you see players dedicate stuff to their teammates who get crippled and stuff. We do it for a guy doing basically what he's always done, which is get hurt.

What's next, helmet decals?

The man didnt, but the impactful MLB did.
Leegro was big time when he played, but sheesh. Our W/L record with him playing is not that much different than without.

I get they value the guy and all, but mourning him like this is just weird.

This is football. Guys get hurt. Some guys more than others.

But they reacted really weird to this, almost like they were dumb enough to think his injury history was just bad luck.

Get used to the idea that we will keep him on the roster. At best he ends up on IR with the return tag on him.

It would anger me immensely if we do not shut him down and keep him around Terry Glenn-style.

One day after season-ending injury, Sean Lee already back helping groom his replacements

Cowboys middle linebacker Sean Lee’s status as the consummate team leader and professional continues to shine in the face of another personal setback.

One day after suffering a possible season-ending knee injury on the first day of organized team activities, Lee was back at the Cowboys’ Valley Ranch training facility helping groom his likely replacements.

The Cowboys have made no official decision on Lee’s status. But, according to multiple sources, results from the magnetic resonance imaging exam confirm a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, sidelining him for the season.

After leaving the field cursing his situation on Tuesday, Lee was back as tutor on Wednesday, earning even more respect from his teammates and coaches.

“He’s just a very unselfish team guy. He’s everything you want in a young player and since Day 1,” tight end Jason Witten said “Just a pro in everything he does. Obviously he’s disappointed, but I think he understands the bigger concept of he’s able to put his ego aside and say, ‘Man, I can still help out.’ If anybody knows anything about Sean, it was a tough blow, but he’ll bounce back from this and be better because of it.”

Said coach Jason Garrett: That’s what he is all about. When he has been hurt in the past during the season when he has been on injured reserve we have meetings that start at 7:30 in the morning and he is there. He is there helping guys out. That is the approach he has always taken. Sean is a very special guy. He is a heck of a football player and there are a lot of reasons for that. A lot has to do with his athletic ability but also the approach that he takes to the game.”

Lee replacement plan in-house for now
May, 29, 2014

By Todd Archer | ESPNDallas.com

IRVING, Texas -- While the Dallas Cowboys have not officially said so, Sean Lee tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee on Tuesday, according to sources, and the defense will be without its best player.

The Cowboys have yet to use the bat signal to call all unemployed middle linebackers.

The current plan is to go with what is on the roster.

They have DeVonte Holloman, who started the final two games of last season at middle linebacker after Lee suffered a neck injury. They have Justin Durant, who started one game in Lee's absence last season. They have rookie Anthony Hitchens, their fourth-round pick.

With eight more organized team activities and six practices over a three-day minicamp next month, the Cowboys will have a better idea as to where they stand in replacing Lee.

After that, perhaps, they will look off campus for help.

Veterans like Jonathan Vilma, Erin Henderson and Pat Angerer have been mentioned. Even Brian Urlacher's name has come up.

Urlacher's connection to defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli makes it interesting, but would it be appetizing? Urlacher did not play last year. He turned 36 this week. His knee gave him issues in his final seasons.

Last year the Cowboys signed guard Brian Waters before the season started. He did not play in 2012 but managed to play in seven games and start five before a torn biceps ended his season. He was 36 as well.

So often past success outweighs present ability when fans yearn for a player to be signed. Urlacher is not the same player who dominated for years in Chicago just as Waters was not the same player last year as he was earlier in his career. He was solid and helped, but he was not the same Pro Bowl player.

Vilma and Angerer have health issues. The Minnesota Vikings released Henderson in January because of a DUI arrest.

There are no magic solutions to replace Lee at the end of May.

The Cowboys will see if they can get by with Holloman, Hitchens or Durant, who did not take part in Tuesday’s practice because of an undisclosed injury. They will study the rosters of the other teams hard over the course of the summer to see if they can find (or need) an upgrade.

The players mentioned today -- Urlacher, Angerer, Henderson and Vilma -- are likely to be available when training camp begins or even later.

If they need them in July or August or September, then they can make the call.
