Cowboys, Raiders talking joint practices

IRVING, Texas -- The Dallas Cowboys and Oakland Raiders are looking into the possibility of holding joint training camp practices in Oxnard, California, according to sources.

The Cowboys and Raiders practiced together in training camp numerous times. Jerry Jones fondly remembers his first training camp when the Cowboys made the drive from Thousand Oaks, California, to Oxnard to practice against Al Davis’ club.

The Cowboys have not practiced against another team since 2012 when they spend two days working against the San Diego Chargers prior to their preseason meeting.

The Cowboys and Raiders do not meet in the preseason this summer. The teams would practice together between their first two preseason games. The Cowboys play the Chargers on Aug. 7 and play the Baltimore Ravens at AT&T Stadium on Aug. 16. The Raiders play at the Minnesota Vikings on Aug. 8 before hosting the Detroit Lions on Aug. 15.

The Cowboys plan on breaking camp on Aug. 15 and remain in Valley Ranch for the rest of the preseason. According to sources, the Cowboys talked to the Miami Dolphins about practicing together before their Aug. 23 meeting but the Dolphins wanted to have a regular-season feel to their lead up to their third preseason game, which is generally a dress rehearsal.

Might as well. We are both dysfunctional teams.

Come on now. Everyone knows that when Jerry finally does die we are all gonna be like, "RIP Jerry, you were so good for football", and "RIP Jerry, your GM skillz were unmatched, mad props."

Don't dance too long. I don't think we will get much relief.

The Jones' are definitely idiots in the war room. But I don't know if Stephen will be as egotistical when it comes to hiring HC's. With Jerry it's been painfully obvious he has intentionally stayed away from powerful HC's so as not to have a repeat of the Jimmy days when Johnson ran the show and stole the spotlight. It's possible Stephen could do the same but I at least have hope he won't have the same stubborn desire to be the main face of the franchise like his deddy has strived for the over the last 20 years.
