MacMahon: Why were Cowboys high on Hitchens?

Hitchens certainly looks like a reach, but they clearly had him graded differently. That one only time will tell, but I sure do like the philosophy that McClay used in taking players he thought could handle Dallas. His emphasis on big conference schools was smart. After the shock of not getting Manziel went away, I am really happy with this draft.

Look...let's be honest.

When was out last draft "steal"?

When did Jerry Stank just fall off any player chosen after the first two rounds when a chimp throwing a dart could have the same success rate?

The Hitchens pick is the only one I can really complain about so I'm cautiously optimistic. And booze has been banging the gong for big school players in the draft all offseason so there's that.

Crayton, I guess. He was a QB out of NW OK St. Kind of a super flyer we took in the 7th that ended up being a good #3 WR.

Scandrick was probably the last steal in the 5th, I think Holloman will end up being one too but that's obviously still up in the air.

I like our 7th rounders this year and Street. You're right though, but I do like our thinking this year. I'm wondering if Mitchell could get a look at FS.
