Here, after weeks to profiling and assessments, is Cowboys Nation’s short Cowboys draft board. We’re trying to approximate what the team’s board looks like. The leaked 2010 and 2013 boards had between 130 and 135 players on them. That’s our goal.The first four rounds have 68 players. Note, though that we have not included running backs, tight ends and centers on our board, so our numbers by position are roughly in line with the number of prospects the Cowboys have put on their short boards. That’s a small oversight. We’re not expecting Dallas to draft players from those positions in the first three rounds, and probably not in the first four rounds, though a running back might sneak into the 4th. We’ll add them later in the week to flesh out the board.
Also note that there’s not 100% fidelity between the board and the players the Cowboys invited. We used their past profiles as a guide and did not expect an exact fit. Players like Demarcus Lawrence will be put in our final board, but what you see is what we settled upon, based on what the Cowboys have done. They’re clearly evolving. We’ll tweak the final board to fully represent that evolution.
