Even so, I don't want to lose the picks for a non-QB. Especially a first rounder that figures to be very high next year after Romo takes a hard shot in week 4 and spends the rest of his life shitting in a bag. All we'd be left with is a stinky cheerleader with a heavy cap hit, and no way for Jerry to make a panick pick at the top of the first round for his replacement.

We don't need this stress.

Whoa.

Would hate to give up a 2015 first but I would lose zero sleep over parting with Claiborne.

Yeah, I'd want the QB as well if we move up that far.

Romo is on the books for $27 million next year. What if he gets hurt again or has a bad year?

We're gonna pay him $27 million to suck? Or we're going to cut him and have no QB of the future and no 2015 first to select one?

Bad idea. If you are going up that high, do it for Manziel, Bridgewater or Bortles.

If this has any basis of truth then there is no QB pick on the horizon for this draft and I think Jones has a no intention of drafting one this year period.

Why would you say that about this? If (big if) this is true, Jerry'd be getting his DE which we do actually have a huge need. We wouldn't be losing any more picks this year, so the rest of the "plan" could still work out in this draft. Whether that would include drafting a QB in rds 2 thru 7 remains to be seen. But this trade wouldn't have anything to do with it.

Now, next years draft...? AIIIIEEEEEEE!!

The reason I say this is if Jones puts this deal together for Clowney then he has shot his wad for getting another first round rated QB. The next question is would there be anyone left on the board that he would take as a future Romo replacement. That is the real question for him.

There is next to no chance of getting a first round QB even without this trade for Clowney. Any of the big three falling to our spot is a pipe dream. We're talking somebody in the 2nd to 5th round range. I could see somebody drafted there. Not saying it will happen, but could see it. Not only to be looked at as Romo's replacement, but a replacement for Orton and his big contract. If not this year, then next. And do we even need to mention Weeden? He is easily cut, and is probably just a camp arm, anyway.

That stat caused a bit of a stir over at the zone. A few of the posts were deleted, but most remain.

Rice is only a few receptions shy of that number, and blows the yardage and TD numbers away. Guys like Megatron are close too, only barely short in one category. I can't remember which one.

Clowney sounds like the quintessential Cowboy.

Lazy, entitled, and stupid.
This is 100% spot on. Jerry has got a boner over his new shiny toy.

I don't want Clowney, no way no how. He's a lazy POS and his attitude sucks. My nephew is friends with him, and my nephew is about as much of a dickhead as they come...so when HE tells me Clowney is a jerkoff, well....chances are he's telling the truth.

When your post count sniffs mine, only then may you address one of my posts.

Tut tut! Watch your tone.

I agree with all this but the question remains who in the second to fifth round is a good fit to groom for Romo' s job. If that can be answered for Jones then your approach might fly. For a While I thought the kid out of Northern Illinois might be the answer but it appears that he has moved up on the board. I can't think like Jones but I have tried to envision who he would be happy with this year that wasn't a first rounder I drew a blank.

Yeah. According to NFL.com, Rice had 264 rec, 4881 yards, and 49 TDs his first four years. The TDs are even more amazing when you consider he only had 3 in his first year.

Interesting, I wonder about a 'games played' stat comparison for the 3 wideouts during that same span.
