Honestly, this takes us out of the Donald option IMO. They feel good about the position now.
Who's starting next to him? If you say Hayden or McClain, I'm hitting you with a skillet.

Happy about this...no need to force it. Maybe Lewan now too...if he is there.

In their eyes they play the same position, so no need to double up.

hang on, adjusting my black armband...

Good signing. Still does't explain ass (can we cuss here?) backwards mentality of signing journeymen and back-up QB's first.
Fuck yes, you can.

Props to both sides for getting an abnormal deal done. Could be a win-win.

Very solid deal.

This time last year, once we hired Kiffin/Marinelli and it was clear we were going to a Tampa 2, I would've killed for us to sign Melton to build our defense around as he was the premier 3-technique in the league after Geno Atkins. I would still draft Donald if he was there because I think you can get them both on the field in passing situations, which is about 1/3rd of the time anyway, but I just don't see us doing that now.

Melton is Marinelli's boy, we have a bunch of other needs and unless we trade down I'm guessing just about any position is on the board, safety, LB, OL, whatever. I just hope we don't get enamored with someone like Mike Evans who takes a little tumble and we end up drafting a position like WR.

DL is still my top priority, and I'm guessing we still spend at least one of our first 3 picks on it, if not more, but knowing how this organization operates I'm thinking it's unlikely that we draft a DT at 16. I don't really like any DE's at 16 so unless we trade down I'm guessing our pick will either be one of the safeties, Mosley or Zack Martin.

I ... have nothing to complain about here (except potentially passing on Donald because of this).

Apparent competence. More, please.

No doubt. Focus on the DL.

Give me Ayers or Wootton and let's call it a day.

If we go into the season with Selvie/Crawford/Ayers/Mincey/Melton/McClain/Bass, 2 highly drafted rookies, and I guess Hayden perhaps, I could get behind that.

It is amazing how little it takes to make us happy.

I said it yesterday and I will again...I am such a battered wife punk bitch victim of Jerry's mental torture...I take whatever glimmer of hope there is.

Jeezus this sucks.

You have to enjoy the little things in this time, or you will be overwhelmed by the big things.

This time last year you, myself, and everybody else here had Melton at the top of our wishlist if we could have somehow afforded it, and if he hadn't been franchised of course. More needs to be done quite obviously but in a vacuum this is a very good signing, especially considering the structure of the contract.
