It's not like the xbox isn't capable of 1080p... Why aren't developers making it happen more?
Gotta be the architecture, man.

That was the reason given why PS3 didn't have a ton of 1080P games despite boasting about being able to display in that resolution and being blu-ray equipped, etc.

Specifically, I know developers are saying the PS4's better RAM definitely makes things easier for them on next-gen.

Playmaker, do you have the new maps?

Operation Metro is insane! Not only does it looks worlds better than it did on PS3, but having 32 on 32 on that map is pure madness. :lol

They did an awesome job on these classic maps. I just wish they would have brought back one of the Bad Company maps.

Sony was hoping to sell 5 million PS4's by the end of March.....they've already sold 5.3 million thus far, surpassing every Playstation console before it.

That's pretty impressive considering the PS1 and PS2 are the highest selling consoles of all time.

Sony have to be thrilled right now. I think they would've done cartwheels just to break even with Xbox after losing their place at the top during the last gen, but reports state that the PS4 is outselling the XB1 here in the states at almost a 2 to 1 clip.

GearNuke: "According to recent sales figures of NPD, PS4 has sold almost twice the amount of units compared to its competitor Xbox One. This news was revealed by Geoff Keighley on Twitter."

And Sony hasn't even launched in Japan yet where they absolutely dominate.

I am very happy with the Xbox One so far. Definitely still getting a PS4 eventually tho.

And don't forget Ace....it's not how you start, but how you finish. Xbox dominated early last gen but overall I think the PS3 won out... And that was with free multiplayer.

I haven't gotten around to getting the new maps. Most of the time I am disapointed with the new ones anyway and don't play them much.

No, I don't think the PS3 ever surpassed the Xbox 360 or even came close. But it did rebound after a disappointing start.

I probably will end up getting both eventually as well.

Exactly.

Xbox won last gen, IMO.

Playstation eventually passed them in global sales some time last year, but the 360 was in control for pretty much the entire generation, and more importantly, they won North America. Neither MS or Sony will ever come out and say it, but the USA is their most important market because it's home to arguably the biggest core base of gamers....but equally as important, if not moreso, is that it is here that gaming crosses over into the mainstream and pop culture, which leads to even more revenue.

The 360 outsold the PS3 here in the states and it became the preferred console for gaming. That is a victory to me.

Playstation 1 and 2 used to be what 360 was for last gen - the console that was on TV via movies and shows. It's the console that formed partnerships with various brands from Snickers to MTV, etc. It's the 360 that became the desired console for developers to show off their games first, just as PS1 and PS2 had been. Sony lost their place atop the mantle and that's why they went as far as to point out their own mistakes in the months leading up to PS4. They showed humility because they had no other choice.

They dominated the market for so long that they thought they could price the console at 600 bucks, remove the rumble feature from the controller, and everyone was just going to come running because they were "Playstation".....and they were wrong.

As I said before, the funny thing is that they seemed to have changed places with MS. After the mass success of the 360, MS kinda looked at it like they had everyone reeled in. They were the ones who priced their console 100 bucks more than the competitor, and they tried to implement the always online thing and the insanely stupid idea of not letting you play used games or your games on someone else's XB1. Due to all the backlash, they wisely removed those two features as mandatory requirements for the XB1, but by then it was too late - Sony had already built up all the momentum after their E3 conference where they embarrassed MS, and lots of people had already decided by that point that they were going PS4 no matter what.

In the end, I am very surprised to see PS4 outselling XB1 at the pace that they are. I knew PS4 was going to make up a ton of ground and maybe even surpass Xbox here in the states, but I'd be lying if I told you I thought it would be by such a significant margin. Rumors are that MS is floating with the idea of both dropping the price of the XB1 and making digital versions of their games cheaper so as to entice more people to buy them and the console. That's a pretty desperate move so early into the game if true.

I think that as long as Sony doesn't screw up, they've got this.

I started playing Bioshock Infinite last night. Very enjoyable for a FPS. I like games where your choices alter the story down the road.

The cool kids have both.
:lol

That used to be me.

SNES/Gensis

Playstation/N64/Dreamcast

PS2/Gamecube/Xbox

But once we got into the PS3/360 era, I didn't see a big enough difference between the two consoles to warrant buying both. The PS3 had the games that I had to have, so in spite of the fact that most of my real life friends played online on Xbox, I stuck with Playstation because of the games.

Even now, I don't think I'll ever get an XB1 because it just doesn't have something that I feel I need. I'm thinking about getting a Wii U, but there has to at least be a new Zelda game out for me to justify that purchase.

Dreamcast was such a disappointment. Good machine, they just didn't make enough games and gave up too quickly. Their baseball game and virtua tennis were both amazing.

Dreamcast was a great system despite not being around very long....but even then, if you imported games or knew where to download them (that system was insanely easy to pirate for), you could really build quite the collection and that's exactly what I did.

I'd say I had roughly 10 games made here in America, but probably 25 more that were from Japan.

And yes, Virtua Tennis was the shit.

I'm in the same boat, I bought the Xbox One early because thats what I found in stock first. I like it, but mainly use it for online media, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, ect.... My problem is, I don't play many games, I thought Halo was coming out this this January and after I bought the Xbox found out it was a year away so I'm stuck with just Madden for a while. I've tried Call of Duty and Assassin's Creed but have a hard time getting in to them. (that and I'm not very good at FPS's and games where you just run around with no idea what you're actually supposed to be doing.) The only reason I like Halo is the offline multiplayer. I won't play it by myself. I'm also not a big fan of the Kinect, its OK when its just me in the room, but when my brother walks in it screws everything up, I don't know if its because we look alike but it will sign me out, sign him is as me, and then sign me in as him. Its wierd. I ended up turning Kinect off.

I'm about halfway through that one. I play it a little here and there, but it's been a very good game so far.

Very trippy game with some political and racial overtones that you don't see in gaming too often.

Nerdy gaming factoid of the day - Playstation was originally designed by Sony for Nintendo to work as a CD-Rom add-on for the SNES.

Imagine how much money they'd make if those two had joined forces.

Well, the China Rising map pack sucks, so I can't blame you there.

But if you liked the BF3 maps, then this new map pack is great. Operation Firestorm, Caspian Border, Gulf of Oman and Operation Metro.

Metro in particular is awesome.

I'm in the group of people who think its time for Nintendo to hang it up console wise and focus on the few games that people still enjoy. I would be all for playing new and retro nintendo games on a PS4 or XB1. I miss Mario Kart but not enough to go buy a nintendo 64, if it was downloadable on PSN or XBLive I would probably buy it. The Wii and WiiU just don't hold up in this market and I don't think they ever will. PS and XB have taken over the gaming community and show no signs of letting it go anytime soon.

I'm with you on that one.

Nintendo is already exploring other options as far as making Mario games for mobile devices when before they said they would never do that.

The Wii made so much money that I think it put Nintendo in a position where they thought they didn't have to stay away from the gimmicks, hence the controller for the Wii U.

My guess is that Nintendo is going to try one more time at making a console, but this one will be more in line with what will be standard at the time. A console that focuses on games and on the games that people want, and not be so stubborn about making something "different" like they have with the Wii and Wii U.

But like you said, who at this point is going to prefer to play Call of Duty, Madden, or BF online via the Nintendo when everyone does it right now on PS and Xbox? They must just have to make their games available for other consoles, but charge out the ass for doing so. Sony and MS will both pay whatever Nintendo asks because games like Mario, Zelda, and the Pokemon games just print money.

You mean you didn't have fun running a raid through a cult headquarters with signs saying "Keep our race pure!" :lol
