ESPN usually puts out a good final report on Insider at the end of the day so maybe a solid DCCer (:cough: Iamtdg :cough) will post those for us later.

Good day for the Knights so far. 4 4* in one class equals our best star rating total ever. But the 3* have offers from so many top programs this classes depth is unreal. Just flipped a Safety from Bama (suck it, Saban) and we held onto a great player from Georgia with Tech making a strong push (suck it Paul Johnson and booze).

[h=1]Thompson tops Ultimate recruiters[/h]
Updated: January 31, 2014, 2:39 PM ET
By Jeremy Crabtree | ESPN RecruitingNation

The Ultimate ESPN 300 recruiter power rankings is a look at which assistant coaches have done the best on the recruiting trail from 2006 through 2013. Beyond looking at how many four- or five-star recruits were landed in that period, the rankings take into account how well those players performed once they arrived on campus.

Current head coaches weren't considered, which eliminates many great recruiters. Producing the list was a challenge, as compelling cases can be made for a number of other coaches.

1. Lance Thompson

Current school: Linebackers coach, Alabama
2006-2013 positions: Defensive coordinator, UCF (2004-2006); linebackers coach, Alabama (2007-2008); linebackers coach, Tennessee (2009-2011)
Top recruit 2006-2013:Julio Jones
What he's done: Looking for a way to describe Thompson's success on the trail? Just ask one of the best players he landed. "He is the best recruiter ever," A.J. McCarron said in 2008 after picking Alabama. The job Thompson did with the 2008 class helped set the table for Alabama's national title runs, and it included household names like Jones, Mark Barron,Robert Lester and McCarron. In 2009, he signed D.J. Fluker and Trent Richardson, both first-round NFL draft picks. While at Tennessee, he was able to land all-SEC selections Christian Harris and Ja'Waun James, before returning to Alabama to land highly touted recruitsJonathan Allen, Robert Foster and Da'Shawn Hand in the 2013 and 2014 classes.

2. Rodney Garner

Current school: Associate head coach/defensive line coach, Auburn
2006-2013 positions: Assistant head coach and defensive line coach, Georgia (2005-2012)
Top recruit 2006-2013:Knowshon Moreno

What he's done: Garner is SEC recruiting; he has been working the conference (Georgia, Auburn) since 1998. Between 2006 and 2013, Garner racked up recruiting success matched by few. His 2006 class featured Moreno, who garnered SEC Freshman of the Year honors, as well as Asher Allen, Clifton Geathers and Reshad Jones. In 2008 he reeled in Brandon Boykin, UGA's career leader in kickoff return yards, and Cordy Glenn, who ranks first all-time in career starts by a Bulldogs offensive lineman. In 2009, he landed Kwame Geathers, and in 2010, he got Alec Ogletree to commit. Ogletree was a first-team all-SEC pick and a first-round NFL draft selection. Garner has taken his game to Auburn now, where he has helped secure top targets such as four-star running back Racean Thomas.3. Mike Bobo

Current school: Offensive coordinator, Georgia

2006-2013 positions: Bobo has been at Georgia the entire time
Top recruit 2006-2013:Matthew Stafford

What he's done: Few have a better track record at recruiting high-profile quarterbacks than Bobo. Stafford was recruited out of Dallas in the 2006 class and went on to become the No. 1 overall pick in the 2009 NFL draft. Bobo also recruited two future starters in the 2009 class, landing Zach Mettenberger and Aaron Murray. Other successful signings included Clint Bowling, a member of UGA's "Team of the Decade"; Rennie Curran, a first-team All-American; and Bacarri Rambo, another All-American. Bobo also recruited Nick Marshall to Georgia before Marshall ran into some off-field issues and eventually ended up as the starting quarterback at Auburn. The 2014 effort to land ESPN 300 running back Nick Chubband ESPN 300 quarterback Jacob Park should be highlighted as well. Few have recruited the Peach State better during this time period.[+] EnlargeKirby Lee/USA TODAY SportsEllis Johnson is responsible for landing the top player in the Ultimate ESPN 300 rankings.

4. Ellis Johnson

Current school: Defensive coordinator, Auburn

2006-2013 positions: Defensive coordinator, Mississippi State (2004-2007); defensive coordinator, South Carolina (2008); assistant head coach, South Carolina (2009-2011); head coach, Southern Miss (2012)

Top recruit 2006-2013:Jadeveon Clowney
What he's done: When you land the top prospect overall in the ESPN Ultimate 300, that alone should put you on this list. Clowney had his pick of suitors, but Johnson did a tremendous job of building a relationship with him and knew the right buttons to push to ensure he would end up staying at home and playing for the Gamecocks. Ignore Johnson's struggle as Southern Miss' head coach and take a look at other high-profile prospects he landed. In 2009, he recruited Stephon Gilmoreto South Carolina, and Gilmore went on to become the No. 10 overall selection in the 2012 NFL draft. He also was able to land one of the SEC's best corners in 2013, Victor Hampton.[+] Marlene Karas/USA TODAY SportsThere weren't many recruiting battles in Los Angeles that DeWayne Walker didn't win.

5. DeWayne Walker

Current school: Defensive backs coach, Jacksonville Jaguars

2006-2013 positions: Defensive coordinator, UCLA (2006-2008); head coach, New Mexico State (2009-2012)
Top recruit 2006-2013:Brian Price

What he's done: Walker's roots in Southern California go back to his first job in 1988, as the secondary coach at Mt. San Antonio College, and he also coached at Utah State, BYU and Cal, which allowed him to become well-known in the region. It was no surprise to see he made an immediate impact when he was hired at UCLA in 2006. While he was only part of three recruiting classes for the Bruins, his impact was felt greatly. Walker was engaged in a number of intense recruiting battles in the city of Los Angeles, and landing Price will go down as one of his best gets. Price was the Pac-12 defensive player of the year, a two-time all-Pac 12 pick, and a first-team All-American. Walker was also able to land Rahim Moore, a two-time All-American and all-Pac 12 selection; Akeem Ayers, a first-team all-Pac 12 selection; Johnathan Franklin, an All-American and all-conference pick. Defensive back Aaron Hester was another one of his recruits, and he was a four-year starter for the Bruins.6. Jim Turner

Current school: Offensive line coach, Miami Dolphins

2006-2013 positions: Assistant head coach and offensive line coach, Delaware (2005-2006); offensive line coach, Boston College (2007); offensive line coach Texas A&M (2008-2011)

Top recruit 2006-2013:Luke Joeckel

What he's done: Turner wasn't the only recruiter for every offensive lineman Texas A&M signed during the Mike Sherman era, but many point to Turner being a primary factor in helping seal the deal with a number of the top players. And there are plenty of them. Joeckel was a first-team All-American for the Aggies and the No. 2 overall pick in the 2013 NFL draft. Jake Matthews was a first-team all-SEC selection.. Many expect Cedric Ogbuehi, who is returning for his senior season, to be a first-round pick in the 2015 draft. Turner, who recruited the Galveston/Brazoria County area in South Houston to the coast, also landed Mike Evans.7. Greg Mattison

Current school: Defensive coordinator, Michigan
2006-2013 positions: Defensive line coach, Florida (2005-2007); linebacker coach, Baltimore Ravens (2008); defensive coordinator, Baltimore Ravens (2009-2010)
Top recruit 2006-2013:Tim Tebow

What he's done: Mattison is known for his ability as a defensive guru, but to high school coaches and recruits across the country, he's earned his reputation as a tremendous recruiter. Mattison was central in reeling Tebow, the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback who led the Gators to two national championships. Brandon James, another 2006 Mattison recruit, was a special-teams star for the Gators and became a first-team All-American in 2007 and 2008. Mattison's résumé would be even better had he not departed for the NFL, but when he was hired at Michigan, he quickly picked up from where he left off. His 2012 recruits include Kyle Kalis, a member of ESPN.com's All-Big Ten freshman team on the offensive line, and James Ross, who has appeared at 25 games at linebacker. Mattison has continued to do damage in 2014 by landing ESPN 300 defensive tackle Bryan Mone and assisting in No. 2 recruit Jabrill Peppers' recruitment.

8. Billy Napier

Current school: Receivers coach, Alabama

2006-2013 positions: Tight ends coach, Clemson (2006-2008); quarterbacks coach, Clemson (2009-2010); offensive coordinator, Clemson (2009-2010); assistant head coach, Colorado State (2012); tight ends coach, Florida State (2013)
Top recruit 2006-2013:Tajh Boyd

What he's done: Napier quickly established himself as one of the best recruiters in the South at Clemson, when he landed quality recruits such as Marcus Gilchrist, a second-round draft pick, and Landon Walkerand Brandon Thompson, who both played in 53 games in their careers at Clemson and earned all-ACC honors. He was also responsible for landing Brandon Thomas, who became one of Clemson's best offensive linemen. But Napier truly made a name for himself when he was able to lure Boyd, one of the most highly coveted quarterbacks in the nation, to Death Valley. He has continued with his success at Alabama, where he is currently ranked No. 1 in the ESPN recruiter power rankings.9. Larry Johnson

Current school: Defensive line coach, Ohio State

2006-2013 positions: Defensive line coach, Penn State (1996-2013)
Top recruit 2006-2013:Jared Odrick

What he's done: Long considered one of the best recruiters in the nation, Johnson made a name for himself in Pennsylvania, the Washington D.C. area, and other parts of the Northeast for 17 years wearing a Penn State shirt. His 2006 class featured Odrick, the Big Ten defensive player of the year; Navorro Bowman, an All-Big Ten pick; A.J. Wallace, who broke the school record for kickoff return yardage in a season; and Aaron Maybin, an All-American and all-conference pick. Some of Johnson's recruiting success of late was tarnished by the off-field issues Penn State faced, but he still managed to land some great recruits. Among his recent gets are Donovan Smith, Da'Quan Davis and Adam Breneman.10. Dameyune Craig

Current school: Co-offensive coordinator, Auburn

2006-2013 positions: Receivers coach, South Alabama (2008); quarterbacks coach and recruiting coordinator, Florida State (2010-2012)
Top recruit 2006-2013:Jameis Winston

What he's done: Craig might not have the length of service as some on this list, but there's no denying his impact on the recruiting trail since he first emerged at Florida State in 2010. Recruiting the Interstate 10 corridor from Tallahassee, Fla., to Mobile, Ala., Craig reeled off many recruiting victories, but none more important than Winston. Winston said Craig was instrumental in his decision to become a Seminole, which already has resulted in a national championship and a Heisman Trophy. Craig has since moved on to Auburn, his alma mater, and he's ranked No. 2 on this year's power recruiter rankings.Honorable mention: Tony Alford, Notre Dame; Zach Azzanni, Tennessee; David Beaty, Texas A&M; Joe DeForest, West Virginia; Eddie Gran, Cincinnati; Steve Greatwood, Oregon; Keith Heyward, USC; Andy Hill, Missouri; Clint Hurtt, Chicago Bears; John Lilly, Georgia; Tosh Lupoi, last at Washington; Eric Johnson, Iowa; Don Pellum, Oregon; Larry Porter, currently unemployed; Stacey Searels, Virginia Tech; Joe Seumalo, Oregon State; Mark Staten, Michigan State; Trooper Taylor, Arkansas State; Brent Venables, Clemson; Ed Warinner, Ohio State.

Predicting national signing day
Updated: February 4, 2014, 10:16 PM ET
By Jeremy Crabtree | ESPN RecruitingNation

The final minutes of the 2014 recruiting cycle are ticking and more than 25 ESPN 300 prospects and 50 recruits ranked four stars or higher are still on the board. Thus, Wednesday is sure to have plenty of twists and turns. Here are 10 predictions for what we'll see on signing day.

USC will clean up

The West is where most of the major headlines on signing day will occur, with four of the top eight players on the West Coast still on the board, including five-star cornerback Adoree' Jackson (Gardena, Calif./Serra), No. 3 athlete Juju Smith (Long Beach, Calif./Poly) and No. 4 guard Damien Mama (Bellflower, Calif./St. John Bosco). Heading into the final few hours before signing day, USC is in very good position with all three prospects, and I project the Trojans will land all of them, pushing them into the top 20 of the class rankings. Even if they miss on any combination of the three, the job new coach Steve Sarkisian has done down the stretch proved to a lot of observers that USC will be a force to be reckoned with in the Pac-12. Mama announces at 11 a.m. ET, Jackson at 2 p.m. and Smith at 4 p.m. -- all live on ESPNU.

Evans will shock with his pick

My head tells me I'm going to regret making his prediction, because history tells me Auburn doesn't lose these types of battles for guys in its backyard. But I'm going to predict Alabama lands No. 2 outside linebacker Rashaan Evans. I know that bucks virtually every projection out there, and my head tells me the Tigers are the right pick, but with the way former five-star recruit and current Alabama linebacker Reuben Foster has been hanging out with his former Auburn (Ala.) High School teammate, you can't diminish the Tide's chances. At this point, Alabama and Auburn coaches aren't sure which way Evans is leaning, and both staffs pulled out all the stops by attending Evans' grandfather's 80th birthday party on Saturday night at a hotel in Auburn. Something just tells me Alabama has a better chance than most people think.

Big Game Bob comes up big

Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops was asked shortly after the Allstate Sugar Bowl how the victory over Alabama would help on the recruiting trail, and he said it would provide the Sooners "a big boost." He was right. They have surged down the home stretch and it will continue on signing day. Oklahoma will land the No. 75 player in the ESPN 300 and No. 9 athlete, Michiah Quick (Fresno, Calif./Central East), and No. 139 player and No. 9 safety Steven Parker II (Jenks, Okla./Jenks). The Sooners also are in good shape with three-star offensive tackle Kenyon Frison (West Valley, Utah/Granger), and if they reel him in, they could end up with the best class in the Big 12. Heading into signing day, the Sooners are just two spots behind Texas at No. 16 in the class rankings.

Petersen proves he can close in Pac-12

New Washington coach Chris Petersen raised a lot of eyebrows when he told a local radio station late last week he anticipated this class would "finish strong." After he was hired, many Huskies fans were worried Petersen and his staff wouldn't be able to recruit with the big boys of the Pac-12, as a number of top targets were on the brink of heading elsewhere. But Petersen got to work right away, and all signs now point toward Washington closing as strongly as anybody in the conference. The Huskies landed Bishard Baker, the No. 7 safety out of Bellevue (Wash.) High, on signing day eve, and they could also get about five more players on Wednesday. Getting Baker, who at one point seemed like a lock for UCLA, would be a huge get for Petersen because he's a Seattle guy, and it would mean he protected his home turf against a very good UCLA recruiting staff.

Smith plays it close to vest

Few recruits have kept people in suspense like Braden Smith, the four-star offensive guard from Olathe (Kan.) South. Smith, the No. 9 offensive guard, hasn't kept people in the dark on purpose. It's not his style to give detailed reports on his top schools, so there is certainly some mystery about whom he signs with Wednesday. The projection here is that Smith signs with Auburn, picking it over TCU and Texas A&M. Smith and his family have talked to Auburn's track coaches about allowing his sister, Megan, to use their facilities after she graduates from TCU in preparation for international competitions in the shot put and discus. In the end, that -- and playing for a school that has immediate holes to fill along the offensive line -- will make the difference.

Florida State pulls off at least one shocker

With great recruiters like Jimbo Fisher and Tim Brewster leading the way and the Seminoles red-hot after winning the national championship, Florida State is primed to make some major noise on signing day. It's almost a given the Noles will land Ermon Lane, the nation's No. 2 receiver out of Homestead (Fla.) High, so that's really not a shocker. The Noles are on the final lists of No. 1 receiver Malachi Dupre (River Ridge, La./John Curtis) and No. 6 defensive end Chad Thomas (Miami/Booker T. Washington), though, and conventional wisdom says Dupre signs with LSU and Thomas sticks with Miami. But don't rule out something big happening with either. The most obvious candidate to flip is four-star athlete Ja'Von Harrison (Lakeland, Fla./Kathleen). Harrison has been a longtime Virginia Tech commitment, but it's always hard for out-of-state schools to hold on to commits when an in-state team like Florida State makes a push before signing day. Don't rule out FSU with Malik McDowell, the No. 5 defensive tackle from Detroit Loyola, either.

Rutgers will go down as most disappointing

This time last year, Rutgers fans were riding high. The Scarlet Knights were making the move to the Big Ten, 13 New Jersey prospects were ranked as four stars or higher and many expected Rutgers to capitalize on the recruiting trail. Fast-forward to today, and Rutgers' 2014 class will be signing day's most disappointing class. At one point, the Knights had one of the best groups in the Big Ten, featuring local players such as four-star Saeed Blacknall (Manalapan, N.J./ Manalapan). But 12 decommitments later, Rutgers is limping into signing day. It's a remarkable level of attrition for a team that hasn't been hit with NCAA sanctions or had a coaching change. There's just no way to put a positive spin on things for Rutgers.

Wildcats will make a lot with a little

You will never see Kansas State in the top 25 in the recruiting rankings, and this season the Wildcats are at the bottom of the Big 12 and likely will remain there after signing day. But big names and stars don't mean anything to somebody like coach Bill Snyder, who prefers to make something out of nothing. Snyder is famous for taking three-star recruits and turning them into five-star players by the time they graduate. Count on the Wildcats to do the same thing again with a number of the players in the 2014 class.

This will be Mason's only bad Vanderbilt class

New Vanderbilt coach Derek Mason was asked to do the impossible. He was given less than two weeks to turn around a Vandy class that was devastated by the departure of now-Penn State coach James Franklin. A highly rated class just wasn't going to happen. But Commodores fans should take comfort in knowing this will be the worst class Mason signs while he's in Nashville. He has a tremendous eye for talent and knows how to target kids of a higher academic standard. So watch for things to turn around with the 2015 class.

Every coach will love his class

This statement is less of a prediction and more of a sure thing. You can count on not seeing a single coach get in front of a microphone on Wednesday and say his recruiting class stinks or he missed out on his top targets. Most coaches will say it's best to judge how good the class truly is in four or five years, but then will gush for 30 minutes about the quality of the players they just landed. That's one of the reasons why signing day is so special for every team in the country. On Wednesday, everybody is a winner. Everybody got the guy who will help them win a lot of games in the future. Everybody has hope. That's what makes signing day a sports holiday.

RN Hot Board: Class of 2014
Updated: February 5, 2014, 8:46 AM ET By RecruitingNation | ESPN.com

Every college football recruit handles the process differently. But wherever the nation's elite prospects stand in their process currently, RecruitingNation is here with all the latest.

Current predictions are based on where prospects have indicated they are most interested in playing. As 2014 classes continue to fill up with verbal pledges, the real picture will come into focus. Check back here frequently to find out how things stack up in the ever-changing recruiting world.

Note: Our predictions are based on what we're hearing from high school coaches and from the prospects themselves. They are subject to change as more information becomes available.
Adoree' JacksonAdoree' JacksonGardena, Calif./Junipero SerraESPN 300 RANK: 9POS: CBHT/WT: 5-10/171STARS:
USC

One of the toughest recruits to read in the 2014 class, Jackson has done his due diligence with the recruiting process -- taking a number of unofficial visits last summer and four official visits during the fall. Heading toward signing day, Florida, LSU, UCLA and USC all remain in the hunt, though LSU and USC seemingly appear to be the two favorites. Whether or not he will take his fifth official visit is only one of the remaining questions surrounding Jackson, who will likely go into signing day keeping multiple fan bases guessing. At this late stage, a good relationship with Steve Sarkisian and immediate playing time at receiver and cornerback might give USC an edge.

PLAYER CARD | SCOUTING REPORT

Lorenzo Carter
Norcross, Ga./NorcrossESPN 300 RANK: 14POS: DEHT/WT: 6-5/228STARS:
Georgia

His recruitment will be one of the most interesting battles through the final month. Early on he had Alabama and Georgia as his leaders, but a visit to Gainesville this summer pushed the Gators into the lead. As the season has played out, Alabama moved quietly up his list and LSU is now a threat, but over the past few weeks Georgia has picked up momentum. The Dawgs look to be getting his last official visit, and that could push him to Athens.

PLAYER CARD | SCOUTING REPORT

Malachi Dupre
River Ridge, La./John Curtis ChristianESPN 300 RANK: 17POS: WRHT/WT: 6-3/187STARS:
LSU

LSU has been the team to beat for months now, and the Tigers' chances have only gotten stronger during the season with a number of visits to Baton Rouge. Alabama is also a factor in his recruitment, but Dupre will also keep an eye on UCLA. The Tigers, though, have signed eight players from John Curtis since 2002 and will be tough to beat.

PLAYER CARD | SCOUTING REPORT

Ermon Lane
Homestead, Fla./HomesteadESPN 300 RANK: 22POS: WRHT/WT: 6-2, 196STARS:
Florida State

Lane is close friends with Dalvin Cook, who flipped his commitment from Florida to Florida State. Lane had only one official visit, to Florida State on Jan. 31. Lane is a key target for the Seminoles, especially since Kelvin Benjamin announced he was entering the NFL draft.

PLAYER CARD | SCOUTING REPORT

John "JuJu" Smith
Long Beach, Calif./Long BeachESPN 300 RANK: 24POS: ATHHT/WT: 6-1/185STARS:
USC

Smith has the attention of schools across the country, and though Alabama, Oregon and Notre Dame continue to push hard for the four-star athlete, this battle will likely come down to UCLA and USC. The Trojans have a commitment from good friend Viane Talamaivao, and if USC is able to reel in Damien Mama as well, Smith might not be far behind. The Bruins, however, hold the recruiting momentum in Los Angeles after a big win over the Trojans to finish the season, and won't go quietly when it comes to chasing Smith.

PLAYER CARD | SCOUTING REPORT

Damian Prince
Forestville, Md./Bishop McNamaraESPN 300 RANK: 26POS: OTHT/WT: 6-5/286STARS:
Maryland

This is a last-minute switch and would be huge for the Terps. Florida was considered the favorite for a long time, but when the Gators flipped OL Andrew Mike on Tuesday, it was taken as a sign that Prince was headed to College Park. There was no more important recruit to Randy Edsall, and the Terps made a late run and, it appears, have convinced him to stay at home.

PLAYER CARD | SCOUTING REPORT

Rashaan Evans
Auburn, Ala./AuburnESPN 300 RANK: 52POS: LBHT/WT: 6-3/217STARS:
Auburn

Auburn, UCLA and Alabama are the teams to beat for Evans. With his proximity to the Auburn campus, the Tigers are the likely front-runner. If he wants to leave the South, UCLA is an interesting option; he visited Los Angeles in September.

Malik McDowell
Detroit/LoyolaESPN 300 RANK: 60POS: DTHT/WT: 6-5/260STARS:
Michigan State

McDowell is down to Florida State, Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State, but there is still a battle going on for his commitment. McDowell's parents want him to go out of state, but the ESPN 300 prospect wants to stay close to home. We'll see whether his parents win or McDowell ends up at Michigan State.

PLAYER CARD | SCOUTING REPORT

Damien Mama
Bellflower, Calif./Saint John BoscoESPN 300 RANK: 67POS: OGHT/WT: 6-4/352STARS:
USC

Alabama, BYU and the two Los Angeles schools make up his final four, and although Mama will take an official visit to see the Cougars in January, the Trojans are closing fast with the four-star offensive guard. UCLA will continue to push, behind offensive line coach Adrian Klemm, but USC has a commitment from good friend Viane Talamaivao and history on their side, as Mama is part of a family of Trojans fans.

PLAYER CARD | SCOUTING REPORT

Michiah Quick
Fresno, Calif./Central EastESPN 300 RANK: 75POS: ATHHT/WT: 6-0/170STARS:
Oklahoma

The Sooners have done extremely well in California over the past few years and might be on to another one in Quick. Not only does Oklahoma hold verbal commitments from four 2014 California standouts already -- Joe Mixon, Dallis Todd, Curtis Bolton and Devante Bond -- but Bob Stoops was able to grab commitments from two of Quick's former teammates in the 2013 class: Hatari Byrd and L.J. Moore. While Notre Dame is still in it and local schools UCLA and USC will make a push, Oklahoma appears to hold the lead for Quick at this point.

PLAYER CARD | SCOUTING REPORT

Chris Lammons
Fort Lauderdale, Fla./PlantationESPN 300 RANK: 86POS: ATHHT/WT: 5-10/171STARS:
South Carolina

The former Florida commit had the Gamecocks at the top of his list prior to his commitment to the Gators. Now that he has reopened his recruiting, South Carolina and Wisconsin are the teams to beat. The Gamecocks hosted his last visit in January.

PLAYER CARD | SCOUTING REPORT

Wesley Green
Lithonia, Ga./Martin Luther KingESPN 300 RANK: 120POS: CBHT/WT: 5-11/173STARS:
South Carolina

Green was originally committed to South Carolina, but backed away from the pledge and is now looking hard at both the Gamecocks and Dawgs. Georgia wants one more defensive back in this class, and the Bulldogs will continue to recruit Green hard, but South Carolina is currently the team to beat.

PLAYER CARD | SCOUTING REPORT

Braden Smith
Olathe, Kan./Olathe SouthESPN 300 RANK: 127POS: OGHT/WT: 6-6/285STARS:
Auburn

For the longest time, TCU was the front-runner to land Smith, but after an official visit to The Plains on Jan. 17, the Tigers are trending upward. No recruit has kept his recruitment quieter than Smith, but he admitted after the Auburn visit he likes the opportunity to play early, which Auburn presents him. The tide certainly can -- and likely will -- shift again before he announces on signing day, especially with TCU getting the last official visit on Jan. 31.

With each week, Thomas-Williams seems to have a new team enter the race. West Virginia is the one team, however, that has stayed consistently near the top of his list. After a solid official visit to Morgantown earlier this month, Mountaineers fans were confident about a verbal commitment either on or just before national signing day. Vanderbilt is the latest school to keep an eye on as the recruiting race comes to a conclusion. Florida State, NC State and Georgia Tech all once were considered teams to watch. As we approach signing day, Thomas-Williams is West Virginia's to lose.

Johnson announced he will make his decision on signing day and, barring any unexpected official visits, this will come down to Florida State and Ohio State. The two have battled each other several times for offensive linemen in the 2014 class, and Johnson is the final one in 2014. The Noles have been his leader for several months now and are the most likely landing spot for Johnson.

Williams has also been poised to remain in the Southeast, but it has been hard to pinpoint just where exactly he would land. The long-time Stanford commit opened up his recruiting process in January and took a quick official visit to Cal, but Lealao's connection to Derek Mason, who took over as head coach at Vanderbilt, might be too much for the Golden Bears to beat. This is a small class for Maryland so we won't be high in the rankings but I'm pretty happy with what we have, especially considering that OL is our biggest need and we have a very strong OL haul. 5 star OT Damian Prince is about to choose between Maryland and Florida and everything I'm reading says Maryland, so we look to be in solid shape.

Arkansas lost out on Soloman Thomas. He chose Stanford instead. Can't say I blame him but it sucks for us. Our class is shaping up pretty nicely in the trenches though. I think we signed just about every 4* OL in a 10 state radius. Probably end up top 30 overall. Unfortunately that puts us in the back of the pack in the SEC. Still, Bielema has completely turned our recruiting around from where it was 13 months ago and we are off to a great start in 2015. We really need some more talent at LB and S.

No. 1 WR Dupre stays home, picks LSU

February, 5, 2014

By Derek Tyson and Tom Luginbill | ESPN.com

The top-ranked wide receiver in the ESPN 300,
Malachi Dupre (River Ridge, La./John Curtis) decided to stay in-state and will sign with the LSU Tigers. Dupre announced his decision on ESPNU. The No. 17 prospect in the country chose the Tigers over FSU, Ole Miss, Alabama and UCLA. Dupre took official visits to all of his final schools, including UCLA this past weekend, but LSU prevailed in the end.

What he brings: Dupre, an impressive physical specimen, is an excellent athlete and leaper with long arms who high points the ball as well as anyone. He is extremely flexible and is very good at adjusting to the back-shoulder throw by using his quick hands and has excellent sideline awareness to put himself in proper position. His polish and attention to detail gives him a lot of value as a route runner and makes him a difficult matchup in all three phases of the passing game.

Who he reminds us of: USC wide receiver Nelson Agholor. The current Trojans receiver is not quite as tall and is a little more elusive after the catch, but like Dupre, Agholor has big-play ability. Both can be vertical threats, and though Dupre is less experienced, he also displays the ability to be a good route runner for his size (6-foot-3, 187 pounds).

Potential freshman impact: Dupre is a consistent playmaker and refined route runner with the size and speed combination to contribute early at receiver and also in the kicking game. He will need to add strength and bulk in the weight room, but he has a real chance to blossom quickly at the next level. Dupre has a high ceiling and could need time to develop.

How he fits: This Under Armour All-American will team with Trey Quinn, the third-ranked wide receiver in the country, to form a very dangerous receiving duo. They are also joined by other four-star wide receivers Deondre Clark and Tony Upchurch. With LSU receiversJarvis Landry and Odell Beckham Jr. turning pro, Dupre will have every opportunity to make an impact early in his career.

No. 2 WR Lane completes flip to Noles

February, 5, 2014

By Jared Shanker and Tom Luginbill | ESPN.com

In one of the worst-kept secrets of signing day 2014, No. 2 wide receiver
Ermon Lane(Homestead, Fla./Homestead) signed with Florida State on Wednesday. An official visit to Tallahassee this past weekend, the only visit he took since decommitting from Florida, sealed the deal for Lane, who is ranked No. 22 overall in the ESPN 300.

What he brings: Well-rounded in his craft, Lane is certainly an exciting wide receiver in all three phases. While a vertical threat, the significant weight he has gained has turned him into a physical presence as well. He has long arms and is an acrobatic leaper when the ball is in the air. He is really good out of the slot and on underneath routes inside the 5-yard line. Though Lane is not a burner, he is a playmaker with fluid movements when he has the ball in the open field.

Who he reminds us of: Penn State WR Allen Robinson. Big, physical, athletic and deceptively fast are four quality attributes when describing both Robinson and Lane. They are very good vertical threats because they can run by you and also outjump you. They excel when employed in the red zone and on either the jump ball or back-shoulder throw, which is almost impossible to defend as Lane and Robinson have the range and athleticism to contort and adjust to poorly thrown balls.

Potential freshman impact: Physically, Lane has the tools and ability to at least have a role as a sub-package receiver early, and he also shows the maturity to develop quickly. A need at receiver will likely immediately place him in the rotation. We could see him having a similar season to what Stacy Coley did at Miami last fall.

How he fits: With FSU losing a few receivers from this past season's team, including potential first-round pick Kelvin Benjamin, there is an opportunity for a freshman receiver to see the field. At 6-foot-2 and 196 pounds, Lane already has the frame to contribute early in his career. Receiver is a position that also lends itself to a smoother transition, which could turn Lane into an immediate threat in the passing game.

Well that might explain why WR Jojo Robinson switched from FSU to Arkansas at the last minute
