Anyone heard how badly some of the Eagles got hurt? Seemed like a few of them were getting beat up later in the game, like Blankenship.

Because if they're out for a while, gosh, I really hate that for them.

Pretty sure Jackson will miss at least a game with the concussion, hoping Blankenship and Mukuba (who went out on like the second to last play) have season ending soft tissue injuries.

Taking a more sober view for a second, while the comeback win was great and the defense allowing 0 points in basically 2.5 quarters was amazing, I thought Schottenheimer was horrendous, arguably Garrett-level bad.

For the second home game in a row he came out and went for a 4th down on the very first drive of the game, giving a struggling offense the ball at midfield to start the game. Then you have the comedy of errors (procedural penalties, turnovers) just like the Arizona game, the same mistakes we've been seeing all year with false starts inside the 2-3 yard line (Broncos game) that almost certainly took points off the board, the DL lining up offsides to negate a stop (also like the Broncos game on a drive that ended in a TD that should've been a stop), and then the cherry on top deciding to go for it (and passing three times in a row from the 2) with 3 fucking minutes left instead of just taking the lead when your defense has given up 0 points on about the last 6 drives.

You're just seeing way too many cardinal sins repeating themselves over and over, and the worst of it is that much of it is procedural (false starts, lining up offsides) or just poor decision-making on Schottenheimer's part.

The offensive design is definitely better, and he probably should've been the one in charge of the offense under McCarthy although I don't think McCarthy's ego would've allowed it, but I'm thinking that Schottenheimer should really just be an empowered OC and that the dual role is too much for him.

Ironically if we had McCarthy or another walk-around coach similar to him at HC with the rest of this staff in place (Adams, etc.) I think we could really have something, but I think Schottenheimer might be in over his head and even if the defense continues to improve into next season I think he might be the actual weak link, because we all know there's always something with this team.

The real telling thing is that Osa has exploded the last two weeks.

You could start to see it against Arizona, and part of it is probably just comfort in the scheme and some of the tweaks Eberflus has made, but it's no coincidence that he has 2 sacks, 2 TFL and 7 QB hits over the last two games with only 1 sack, 3 TFL and 9 QB hits over the previous nine.

Osa was never good enough to be the Batman on a front 7 but he's a damn good Robin now that we have another Batman.

Random Thoughts:

-Steele was surprisingly stout against Phillips who kind of gave Sewell fits last week, he's really stepped up his play since he got benched against Arizona and I hate to say it, but if he keeps playing this way we might have to bring him back next year. He's still meh but at this point I'd take just average to above average play and be happy with it.
-Overshown's sideline to sideline speed is evident and something that's been missing since he's been out. In the 4th he made two tackles near the sideline, one on Smith and one on Barkley, each of which probably would've been 7-10 yard gains if he was off the field but only ended up as like 2-4 yard gains.
-I think Booker went toe-to-toe pretty well with Carter, he got beat on a few plays but there were a few where he took Carter out of the play or pancaked him. The OL was clearly focused on Carter so he had help at times, but there were plenty of one-on-one reps and I'd say Booker probably played him even, which is a win against a top 3-5 DT in the league.
-Wilson was outsnapped by Murray pretty significantly (39-24), it'll be interesting to keep an eye on this as they can cut Wilson next year with no cap hit whatsoever and save the entire $7M or whatever he counts as. I'd suggest watching plenty of Sonny Styles and CJ Allen as the college season starts to ramp up.
-I can't believe Bridges didn't give up some sort of explosive play when he came in for a handful of snaps with Carson going out.
-Conversely, I think we might have something with Carson if he can stay healthy. He gave up the one big shot to Smith, which was actually good coverage and just a great play by Smith, and he's really stout as a tackler. Obviously he's not elite but if you can count on him as one of your top 3 CB's that's a huge win going into next season.
-Revel played more snaps than any of our CB's except Bland and looked passable, which is huge given we thought he might not even play in 2025. There are some aspects that he needs to tighten up but it'd be amazing if we could confidently go into next year with Bland/Revel/Carson as your top 3, plus Steward who looks like a decent utility piece.
-Malik Davis needs a few more touches, he's the definition of a JAG, but he's definitely capable enough to give Williams a little bit more of a break in games where we're not down by 21 at the start of the second quarter.
-Stop forcing the ball to Turpin on these little gadget plays, he's kind of a ditz and has small hands, just play him as a regular WR and give Davis a few extra touches.

Osa may end up having a career season. Funny how the guy is suddenly getting sacks now that he doesn't have to carry a heavy snaps load and take on double teams. Having guys like Osa fresh is a big deal. And now you're seeing the talent that he has.

Yea, this is why I've never once said they should look at getting rid of him unless it was absolutely necessary to re-sign Pickens, which is nonsense to begin with.

He's not a well-rounded DT like the elite ones, but he's an excellent pass rusher, especially when he's not the main guy opposing OL's are keying on. That's very valuable even if he's sort of one dimensional, and he's in a perfect spot to explode here with the type of depth we have at the position.

I think Schottenheimer should be the walkaround HC and let Adams call the game. BS's strength is obviously being a people person, etc. He's very emotional and that leaks into his play calling. If he weren't so caught up in talking to Dak etc. maybe he'd be more clear-headed on big decisions. Just manage the game and let Adams do his thing.

You might be right, and I do think his emotions (he loves talking about how "pissed off" he gets) lead to certain decisions. It's something I was wondering about specifically as it was happening last night during the last sequence on the goal-line, like his pride wouldn't let him settle for 3 there with all the momentum we had when it was clearly the right decision with the defense playing as it was.

It was pretty unlikely that the defense was going to give up a TD on the very last drive with how things went, so the worst case scenario is OT or you get the ball back tied with enough time to maybe get into range for a long Aubrey FG.

To risk losing the game outright there was insanity and pure hubris.
