Dez Bryant says he's a Cowboy forever

February, 3, 2014

By Calvin Watkins | ESPNDallas.com

Two days before Super Bowl XLVIII, Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant played in the Gridiron Celebrity Hoops charity event in New York.

TMZ Sports asked Bryant would he consider playing for another team in the NFC East.

"Hell no," said Bryant, who becomes a free agent after the 2014 season. "I don't even think about leaving Dallas. I'm Dallas forever."

The Cowboys haven't opened contract talks with Bryant's agent Eugene Parker, but given the franchise will be tight against the salary cap in 2014, the team has some major decisions to finalize.

Along with Bryant, the Cowboys also have to take care of left tackle Tyron Smith with a long-term deal.

"Those are all things we’ll be working on," Cowboys' executive vice president Stephen Jones said at the Senior Bowl regarding Bryant.

Maybe one day we'll get a QB for you that doesn't mind throwing it up and letting a superior athlete try to go get it.

Good. Then you won't mind playing for the minimum.

Tyron and Dez are actually the type of young players you want to lock up long term. They never miss games. They both are very young for their experience levels. They are both special players that you can't find every year.

Unfortunately we lock up too many players that don't deserve it.

I agree with this.

I heard one of the guys on 105.3 this morning trying to pimp Harvin over Dez. Says he more exciting and a more all around player. I thought, "man this guy is nuts" Dez is amazing after the catch, gets the ball like nobodies business and when they put him out there is a monster return guy. HE doesn't have to be as long as Harris is healthy, but I think he undervalues what Dez can do. I lock Dez up as soon as I can and hope his feelings make him amenable to a hometown contract. But either way I get it done. With him and Tyron.
