Was Kraft still available? I had it in my head that he was already gone? Either way perfect example of flawed scouting. One was an awesome college player. One had awesome testing numbers but a mediocre college resume. We went with the guy that had the workout numbers but not the resume.
Scoon went 58, Kraft 78

Kraft plays with such aggression. Schoonmun is like Tolbert to me, has some talent but he's soft and lacks confidence.

I know there's projection with the smaller school guys like Kraft, but you'd think this wouldn't be that hard to scout.

Yeah I remember really liking Kraft. I remember hating Schoonmaker. Schoon's softness was very evident in his college tape. He basically never broke a tackle or ran after the catch. Anyway, everyone hated that pick at the time so it's not like I'm bragging that I saw something no one else did. It was obvious to most fans of college football.

It's early and it's always hard to draw any conclusions early, but GB might be the best team in the conference.

Which I don't love, especially since we have their 1st.

But ultimately I'd take it over the alleged alternative.
They could be because the NFC is really kind of weak, if they were in the AFC I think they'd be anywhere from the 3rd to about 6th or even 7th best team.

There is always next year for them to not be great.

But I will also say it is early. The Saints were great for like 4 games last year. And then utter shit. It's a long football season.
2027 is really the crown jewel class in my opinion.

Jeremiah Smith might be the best WR prospect since Calvin Johnson, Dylan Stewart is going to be in the same class as guys like the Bosa's, Aidan Hutchinson, etc., you have Ryan Williams and then we'll see at QB.

I think everyone here pretty much unanimously liked Kraft over Schoonmaker, I think that was sort of a McCarthy pick, I remember him talking about how you can never have enough TE's and how Schoonmaker's brother is a Marine or some shit.

I don't know about McCarthy and Schoon, because Ferg was his guy with the Wisconsin connection and being Alvarez's grandson and all that.

Always thought it was suspicious that they showed the draft room video of Mazi and some other pics but nothing on Schoon.

The thing about both shit picks is that we really had no plan for either one of them. They could not figure out that it was not how big or nimble Taco Mazi is, he is just slow off the ball and they tried to figure it out. Schoonerpooner was what? The blocking TE?

I agree, although I still believe Mazi could be an average starting NT in a 2-gapping scheme if he was allowed to stay fat and just sit in between the A gaps on 1st and 2nd down.

He was ok last year doing that but he doesn't fit a penetrating, upfield scheme in any form or fashion, which is exactly what we have now. Greg Ellis said as much in an interview I heard a few months ago, he basically called it immediately that he wouldn't fit in with what Eberflus wants his DL to do.

With all that said, the core issue is he's seemingly a lazy, unserious fuck who doesn't really care to work hard or improve his game. His timing/burst off the snap is a fatal flaw in terms of pass rush, but he could have easily stuck in the league for 6-8 years playing the run.

I doubt it. Not only is his take off the snap ridiculously slow, he does not play with the right leverage and has zero clue how to use the natural power he has. He literally has no strength to his game. No quick twitch. Poor hand use. Slow feet. No understanding of leverage and pad level.

The fat fucks that last 8-10 years at least do one thing well.

He's inconsistent for sure but I saw him stuff the run within a limited space (i.e. the A gaps) over the last half of last season well enough. He might be too much of an idiot to be a full-time starter anywhere but I think he could easily stick as a rotational run stuffer, and still might.

But I agree that he seems to have no idea what he's doing out there, Michigan must've really dumbed down what they were asking him to do.

As y’all said GB might (probably) be the best nfc team. Along with philly, I have trouble putting together a top 5 nfc group so far.

Not a strong conference. Maybe Dallas is top 5. Washington? Ehh. Rams? Meh. Lions? Doesn’t feel like it. SF? Not impressive.

super early though. Maybe teams will get hot

Gonna be us after we trade one of these 1's for Bijan Robinson because we're 5-3 at the trade deadline.
