Alright boys, a tradition unlike any other, the week we try to forget that this organization is run by a group of inbred megalomaniacal hillbillies in an attempt to enjoy the beautiful unpredictability of the draft. Normally I wait until about 36-48 hours before the draft starts to post this but I'm going to be out of town without a laptop so this is what you get.

This is a "short board" based on who I think will realistically be there, and accounting for the very real possibility that we trade down.

Let's assume the following are gone:

Ward, Hunter, Carter, Jeanty, Graham, Membou, Campbell, and Jalon Walker.

That's 8, we're sitting at 12, so give me at least your top 4, but I'm going to make it a list of 17 to take me all the way down to potentially 25 in a trade down because why not?

1. Derrick Harmon
2. Matthew Golden
3. Tetairoa McMillan
4. Tyler Warren
5. Mike Green
6. Emeka Egbuka
7. Jahdae Barron
8. Mykel Williams
9. Kenneth Grant
10. Tyler Booker
11. Kelvin Banks
12. Will Johnson
13. Grey Zabel
14. Shemar Stewart
15. Malaki Starks
16. Walter Nolen
17. Omarion Hampton

A few notes:

-I go back and forth on Golden and McMillan on almost a daily basis, as of right now I'm leaning Golden because I think he is the more ideal complement to Lamb, brings a dimension we completely lack at WR, and there aren't any questions about his work ethic, love for the game, etc.
-Tyler Warren is one of my top 7ish prospects, ahead of Harmon, Golden and McMillan, but I have to take positional importance and our current roster into account which drops him a bit.
-If Will Johnson had a normal pre-draft leadup (including running in the 4.5ish range) he'd be higher on my board, but it's just hard to rank a guy near the top of my wishlist after missing so much of the season and then basically refusing to run months after the fact.
-It's an odd class so I think we're going to see some wild shit on Thursday, especially in the 20's.

Thoughts?

So with that list, are you comfortable going as low as 25 in a trade down?

Roughly, yea, although ideally I'd prefer to stay around 20-22 to grab one of the DT's or Egbuka.
I mean it's tempting to add a second round pick. I feel like I could kill it in the second round of this draft. But I also don't know that it's worth it if I'm taking Starks or Hampton in the first as a result.

Probably not too many responses yet because it's hard to argue with any of it. Maybe Loveland is in there somewhere if he's a good a prospect as they say?

I didn't include him because I wouldn't cinder him until about 20 or so and I think by then he'll be long gone based on the smoke that's swirling.

But yea I'd consider him towards the back end of that list around like the Nolen/Starks area, but ultimately I think I'd pass since I don't think he's overly special.

Okay, so this is just for us. No, I wouldn't take him either. Warren is the only TE I'd take in the first, and that's only because I think he's pretty special.

So my little list would be

Harmon
Grant
Warren
Golden
Egbuka
Hampton

I feel like our biggest impact would be the best available WR in the 1st and best available RB with our 2nd. But there are other scenarios I'd be happy with too. There are a lot of good options.

The ones I wouldn't like in the first are, drafting an OL, or trading up for any reason. (Obviously I also wouldn't like taking a traditional LB or something like safety but I don't think those are realistic).

I'm going to assume that you meant to type "unless it was for Golden"after mentioning trading up but just got in a hurry.

1. Matthew Golden
1a. Tetairoa McMillan
3. Derrick Harmon
4. Armand Membou
5. Tyler Warren
6. Emeka Egbuka

9. Will Campbell
10. Kenneth Grant
11. Will Johnson
12. Jahdae Barron
13. Kelvin Banks Jr.
14. Josh Simmons
15. Tyler Booker
16. Luther Burden

After that I'm probably getting into guys I'd be good with in the second round but a little uncomfortable in the first round. The Shemar Stewart, Mykel Williams, Jihaad Campbell, Emmanwori, Ezeiruaku, Hampton, Zabel, Amos, Schwesinger, Tyleik Williams, Noel, Higgins, Kaleb Johnson, Henderson, Donovan Jackson, Jordan Burch, Darius Alexander, Revel, TJ Sanders and Alfred Collins types.

And I bounce between Golden and McMillan as well. I've been leaning towards Golden just because I think he compliments Lamb better and stretches the field more to open up the running game. Plus there are zero charecter concerns about him. I don't really have concerns about McMillan but I don't know if he is as high character as Golden.

But then I bounce back and McMillan has back to back 1300 yard seasons. He had a shitty QB and still produced monster numbers. And if I was saying which guy is going to be a true number 1 receiver 3 years from now? It's probably McMillan. He also made Travis Hunter his bitch. So the man has some dog in him.

This has been my thinking only issue is that there are likely to be RBs I still like a lot in the third and I’m not so sure about DTs. Anyone care to set my mind at ease on that?

Yeah, weird that Jerry said they hadn't finished the board yet when they usually have by now.

I would hope so, the draft is in like 48 hours.

I mean in all honesty didn't Benjamin Morrison hold like a private workout that we attended yesterday or today? Sort of hard to finalize a board when you're still doing stuff like that. I think some of these virtual meetings have been occurring as recently as last week. So sure, there still may be minor changes. My guess is the board is pretty damn close to set. Maybe good news on a medical on Morrison might shift him but most of the players are already set in place.

I’m ready to go full retard this draft.

Trade the 1st, 2nd and some fodder to Cleveland for #2. Draft Hunter and solidify WR and CB. Then take RJ Harvey in the 3rd.
