The best thing about Ben Johnson isn't how good that offense is now, but how he salvaged Goff from the scrap heap and got more out of him than even ultra guru McVay. I could see Jerry wanting that for Dak.

And that was was a couple of years process, so at least he has that over the one year wonders like Slowik who imo just got a tremendous talent in Stroud.

I still have no idea about how he'd be as a HC, though.

With all of them, you really don’t know how they will do running the whole show. Kkkkkliff sucked at it.

I mean we need to improve the offensive talent. But the cupboard isn't exactly empty. Whoever their Oline coach is I need him to come with. That whole offense starts and stops with killer blocking up front.

Absolutely we need to upgrade the offensive talent. But the point is more about whether Johnson is an offensive guru or he just has good talent.

I don't think he is a guru. But I think he is good and knows how to get the most of his talent. I think he is detailed oriented and has his guys playing well coached. He also values the running game and schemes it well.

It's a lot of great Oline play. I don't think of him as a guru in the traditional sense of a passing offense. But I think he is maybe in a little different way.

Just think if Jerry hired a high school coach as HC because he thinks he’s Dan Campbell. :lol

Would that result in permanent board maintenance?

I'd certainly be out aside from chuckling at the absurdity and draft stuff, which I guess is where I'm already at.

He's really been done dirty if we're being honest. All as a sacrifice to the idiots that actually run the team.

Meanwhile McCarthy turned around a moribund franchise that couldn't sustain success for like 20 years before he got here. It wasn't good enough, but I don't think I even fault him.

It's just a shame that the people who are truly at fault get to skate off in the background as if they don't have a massive amount of blood on their hands. They are supremely unqualified and yet more entrenched than a tenured professor because they happen to own the fucking school.

While he has been "done dirty" this offseason and coming into this season, he should've been fired after the Green Bay playoff game and deserves most of the blame for what was one of the most pathetic playoff performances in this team's entire history, therefore I have no sympathy for him.

Not breaking news, obviously, but that really is the worst, that the grinning crypt-keeping (I'm stealing that) asshole yuks it up with Irvin and talks about hiring Deion and celebrates his boxing spectacle and largely escapes heat.

Oh sure, he'll get some as this crappy year goes on and the losses pile up, but we're about to the point where fans turn to which coach comes next, the draft, how high are we going to pick, etc. and the HC gets most of the blame while the ringleader remains.

That is where I am with him. I am also very disgusted by how that offense was designed to compensate for the changes on defense. He owns that piece.

That's fucked up. I feel bad for him.
I don't know if I feel bad for him. I know it's going to make me sound like a bit of an asshole but maybe this is the problem. The guys team is getting their ass kicked week in and week out. And he is busy going to big fight nights instead of worrying about the next game he is trying to win. Part of me feels like this just shows McCarthy has given up just as much as the players.

I don't blame him at this point. He's, clearly, going to be replaced and they did jack shit to help him. And yeah, the Green Bay playoff loss is totally on him, but bringing him back and setting him up to fail is fucking dirty.
