They have a winning record, so yeah.

The fact sucks, but it’s still a fact. This team is beating up on terrible teams. History is all we have to go on, and history says when winning teams appear on the schedule, Dallas usually finds a way to shit the bed. Sometimes it’s a blowout loss, sometimes it’s finding a way to go from 1st and goal inside the 10, to 4th and goal from outside the 20 yard line to determine the game.
I wouldn't say we have some serious history on this fact. This season sure, we have only played 2 games against winning teams.

I'm always curious though on what really counts as beating an above .500 team. Is it about the record when you play them? Or about their overall record after you play them? Seattle is a good example they have a winning record right now. But if we beat them they have a brutal schedule and will probably never be above .500 again this year.

Early in the season if you beat a 1-0 or 2-0 team that promptly falls off a cliff did you really accomplish any great win?

I think it's all a bunch of nothing. We need to just go out and win. I don't give a shit what the record of the team we are playing is. The name of the game is to try and win as many games as possible.

This is kind of bad.

The relevant portion...

"As it turns out, the turkey they saved for after the game had a lions logo seared into the turkey as Fox expected Detroit to win"

:lol Yes that's very dumb. They forgot that it was a waxing gibbous moon.

No, if we beat them they won't have a winning record anymore. So actually no.

Which just demonstrates how fickle these types of stats are and part of the reason why they don't have the predictive value it gets credit for.

Take the Chargers for example. They are 4-6 so they have a losing record. Our win against them doesn't look that impressive based on their record.

But what if they had beaten us? Their record would instead be 5-5. Suddenly they "look" like a better opponent and it would be further evidence that we only beat losing teams. But they're now a losing team in part because we beat them.

As you pointed out, we play some teams coming up with winning records and I think it's very unlikely we go winless in that stretch. So we'll beat some winning teams by the end of the season.

But as I pointed out, it doesn't matter either way.

We could win out, which means we'd beat Philly, Detroit, Buffalo, Miami, and Seattle, and that wouldn't matter either. Because what good is beating any of those teams if we don't beat SF or Philly in the playoffs?

We won't really know about this team until January anyway so I'm not worried about the record of their opponents right now.

For the record, I have the same opinion of this team as I did the moment they lost to Arizona.

They are likely a 10-12 win playoff team, and will probably get to the second round of the playoffs where they will lose in epic fashion. As per usual.

Such a bizarre thing to say, even from him.

I wonder if he got tons of praise and compliments from people for finally putting Jimmy in and that added to his good feelings.

Unlike some, yes, I am guessing.
its the talk of a man who hasnt seen a team like this in 30 odd years. Hes wistful, thinking of the old days.

so much for the low hanging fruit, now do the hard work of predicting who will send us home.

While this is probably true I also think we're a clear top 5-7 team in the league and a definite SB contender. The problem is that we're likely to be relegated to the WC because we couldn't punch it in from the 8 or whatever against the Eagles, who have won about 4-5 tossup games in a row that should've resulted in at least one or two more losses than they currently have.

I think there's a reasonable path to at least make the NFC Championship game if they remain as the 5th seed.

That would give them a wildcard game vs the NFC South champ, likely New Orleans, and a Division Round game vs the Eagles. Assuming the Eagles hold on to the #1 seed.

The Cowboys are used to playing in Philly so the atmosphere won’t affect them like it would non-division opponents. Plus Dak’s been stellar vs the Eagles throughout his career.

Just gotta pray they don't have to cross paths with the 49ers.

Like Switzer’s 1995 team where we caught some fortune with the Packers beating the 49ers for the NFCC
We were the better team than the 49ers in 1995, IMO.

They beat us during that regular season but I think we'd have handled them in the playoffs.

I agree with Geng. Things haven't changed that much. This is a top 3-4 team in the NFC. Nothing really matters except how they do in the playoffs.

But at least we now know they are that good a team again, which we weren't sure of after the Niners fiasco. Point differential has proven to be a good predictor, and the way to run that up is to crush bad teams and not squeak by them, which is exactly what we've been doing.

Just have to get to that position again and hope things break right, which they eventually will if we give ourselves enough chances.

My fear is that the Niners especially may just be better than us. IMO that doesn't mean anything is "wrong" or that people need to be fired. It may just an unfortunate fact that while we've done a lot of things right, they are just a little better.
