Injury report: Sean Lee is close to returning

By Calvin Watkins | ESPNDallas.com

LANDOVER, Md. -- The Dallas Cowboys enter the final game of the regular season with the possibility of starting middle linebacker Sean Lee returning to the field after missing last week's game against Green Bay with a sprained neck.

Lee has missed a total of four games because of injuries this season, but with the Philadelphia Eagles game meaning so much, this could be his last chance to participate.

"I visited with him before the game," Jerry Jones said. "I just visited with him again here, and it’s certainly possible. It’s a technical thing. It's something that he very easily could get cleared, and he’s ready to play if he’s cleared."

Lee has to pass certain physical tests before getting doctors to allow him to return.

Also, wide receiver Dwayne Harris (hamstring) and cornerback Morris Claiborne (hamstring) are expected to return for the regular-season finale against the Eagles.

Linebacker Ernie Sims (groin) is questionable for the Eagles, game but he's hoping to return.

Next week's headline:

Sean Lee Is Injured.
Without a doubt, but maybe he can do his part to slow McCoy and Foles down.

Yeah, we are going to need him against McCoy for sure.

Sounds unlikely that Lee is going to play, according the ESPN Dallas, et al.

Sean Lee not cleared by doctors

It appears the 2013 season is over for Sean Lee.

The Dallas Cowboys' starting middle linebacker hasn't been cleared by doctors to practice due to a sprained neck, and a source said it is doubtful he will play in the win-or-go-home game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night.

Lee has missed the Cowboys' previous two games with the injury and was hopeful he could return for the regular-season finale. Examinations revealed no structural damage.

Lee, called the quarterback of the defense by defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin, missed two games in late November with a hamstring injury. He returned for the Chicago game on Dec. 9 but suffered a neck injury in the third quarter and didn't return.
