The dog is gone and I feel and enormous amount of guilt after a couple of days has passed.

In a couple weeks you will forget what color he is. You will probably refer to him as that whatisname mutt.

The crazy thing is I've always been a person who has no preference for animals. I've also always been one who is very unconcerned with the well-being of animals as a whole. Matter of fact, I really didn't like this dog or feel a bond with it at all. Something about driving the thing to get killed when it is all lovey dovey with me felt wrong. She was all happy go lucky when we walked in because there were other dogs there. I felt like a betraying SOB for tricking her into her death.
