I like to fish. I wouldn’t call myself a fisherman.

Anyone ever used a rubberband trot line?

Is this done at a bar or college campus?
You're thinking of jugs plural, like this

Oh.

No I haven't
Oh. Well, in that case, let me explain. It's a fairly complicated set up. Length of rubberband (about 30 feet of it) tied to a rock and the other end to nylon string. Take the rock out in a boat about 200 feet and drop it. Let out string as the rock sinks so as not to pull the rock any closer to shore. Once the rock settles at the bottom, pull the string in until it feels like the rubber band is about to snap and set your first hook. Let it out about 5 feet and set the next hook. This classified a throw line in Texas, so a max of 5 hooks. Once you're rigged and baited, you tie the end of the nylon to an old fishing pole or anything that will flex and tie a bell to the top of it. Every time a fish hooks, the bell rings, and you reel in the fish. I have caught shit tons of crappie this way.
