I didn't grow up a Star Wars fan at all until I was older and gave it a shot. This was post 1,2 and 3. I did watch them chronologically and while I do think Solo is a badass, the Star Wars movies are centralized around the Skywalkers.

He overcame his selfishness and criminal past to become one of the greatest heroes in the history of the galaxy.

Without Solo, Vader kills his son in the death star trench and well, I guess they could go do some alternative universe movies on that.
