Yes, but how does Wickard v. Filburn impact this?Should be a violation of the first sale doctrine. Judges must be in media companies' back pockets.
Well, Microsoft didn't elaborate, and that was another one of the criticisms aimed their way after yesterday's conference - their answers/responses weren't very clear. Almost as if they weren't really sure themselves. So how is gamefly going to get around that?
Greed. Plain and simple. What is fairly certain is that you won't be able to just turn that into Gamestop and renting games for that thing is going to be a pain in the ass or not possible at all.
Feh.It won't last. They'll catch so much backlash for it leading up to launch that they'll have to know it will affect their numbers. Sony is going to win the next gen war just by going with status quo...and I'm happy about that. Better system, better exclusives.
Obviously.Greed. Plain and simple.
I am definitely buying the PS4...I actually have both, but my kid uses the XBox.Obviously.
They seem intent on focusing more on making the Xbox an entertainment hub than a gaming machine. I don't think there's anything wrong with adding a bunch of media apps to it or whatever, but I buy consoles for the games. I can pretty much do all of the other stuff on my laptop or even my TV.
Netflix, Hulu, Skype, etc.
I think Sony lost their grip with the PS3 because they forgot what made them king in the first place, and that was the gaming experience. If their introductory conference is any indication, then it looks like they learned from their mistakes of this past generation and are focused mostly on the gaming experience.
Even if Sony do charge a fee for their online, and I'm guessing they won't, I'm sure it'll be minimal.
Loyal to a degree. That is the thing...pretty much people are loyal to their consoles and the franchises on them...they'll stick with it.
Damn, you are a gaming nerd, you magnificent bastard.Loyal to a degree.
Remember, PS1 and PS2 dominated the gaming market like no console before it. Even Nintendo in its hey-day never had the stranglehold that Sony did between 1995-2005. The only consoles in history to sell over 100 million units are the PS1 and PS2. But Xbox won the last generation if you go by just sales and the fact that developers preferred to make games on the Xbox first then port over to PS3, when it used to be the other way around.
Sony being arrogant and pricing the PS3 at 600 bucks when it first came out was a huge mistake. That and the decision to get rid of the rumble controllers because they said it was a "last-gen" feature, and the insistence of going with proprietary Sony architecture which made programming for the PS3 a headache for developers. All of these things contributed to Sony losing their place at the top.
This time, they went with a very PC like architecture and the developers are already talking about how easy it is to design for, and Sony has said themselves they are looking to price the PS4 much more competitively than they did the last time. So the good news is that they seem to have learned from their mistakes on the PS3.
My point? Xbox 360 players can and will switch back if MS trips themselves up just as Sony did in this past-gen.

Original reports were that you might not even be able to play the Xbox unless it was online. They cut back on that but it is still going to have a lot of people in an uproar. The real question is if developers will force Sony to follow suit. After all if you can buy and sell used games on the PS4 that will hurt the bottom dollar for the EA Sports of the world. If PS4 doesn't do what Xbox has done I think they will start to destroy them in sales.Well, Microsoft didn't elaborate, and that was another one of the criticisms aimed their way after yesterday's conference - their answers/responses weren't very clear. The word right now is that Microsoft will have their own proprietary trade-in system via online. How this is going to work? No one really knows. The speculation is that they will have like a license for each game which you can then "surrender" and then get credit or something. Again, this is speculation because MS couldn't explain it clearly.
