The national media will throw out obvious candidates. From what I understand Littrell and Neal Brown are not candidates.

Holgerson - this one makes the most sense to me
Venables
Leavitt (hearing he is high on the target list)
Matt Wells - interesting

Supposedly that is the top 4 guys.

Mack Brown going back to North Carolina would be good for nostalgia purposes only.

I must admit those mid to late 90s N. Carolina squads were pretty good. IIRC, they were the only ACC team that consistently challenged FSU for the conf championship.

I have also read the interest is mutual. Have not seen that from a credible source just yet, though.

Makes about as much sense as Dabo.

Jesus. Get over yourselves. Texas Tech is not a destination head coaching gig.
So having Holgerson as a target is equal to assuming that Tech is a destination job? That seems like a bit of a leap there.

Tech is about a top 30 job in the country and has money to spend on a coach. No, top tier coaches won't be coming to Lubbock. You'd have to find a mid-tier guy (like Holgerson) or hope to hit on an up and comer.

I think his argument is Holgorsen isn’t a mid tier guy and I agree.

1 Tennessee is horrible with no coach. Worst SEC team. Vanderbilt beat them yesterday. Tennessee is FCS level now.
2 Youngstown State is FCS.
3 Kansas State is the worst they ever have been. FCS level this year.
4 Kansas is terrible.
5 Texas Tech is 5-7 and Swiss cheese terrible as usual. Even worse this year.
6 TCU is worse than ever. Down year. Unusually bad this year. QB injuries suspensions, best player kicked off arrested.
7 Baylor is terrible again in post Art Briles era. Baylor is a joke now.

Holgorsen's coaching record at WVU:

61-40

38-32 in conference

2-4 in bowls

OMG HE WOULD ONLY LEAVE FOR A DESTINATION JOB!

Why would he leave his current job for a lower tier job?
I don't know that he would do that BUT:

1. He wouldn't be doing that. Your perception is wrong on that. It is at least an equal or better job.

2. He isn't happy where he is from what I understand.

3. He would be in a better recruiting situation.

4. He could possibly get a raise.

Off the top of my head.

Look, I wouldn't go all in on this happening or anything, so I hate to even argue the point. I'm mainly saying that those are some realistic options to that Tech is considering, not fan bullshit.

I think Vince Lombardi would emerge from the grave for the privilege to coach in Lubbock.

Is this list in response to someone or was it going somewhere? I’m lost.
