I'm looking at Landry Jones career numbers:

W-L Record as a Starter: 3-2
Completion Percentage: 64%
TD/INT: 8/7
Yards Per Attempt: 7.8

His numbers in his five career starts:

- 2017 vs Browns he was 23-27, 239 yds, 85% comp, 1 TD, 1 INT
- 2016 vs Patriots he was 29-47, 281 yds, 61% comp, 1 TD, 1 INT
- 2016 vs Browns he was 24-37, 277 yds, 64% comp, 3 TDs, 1 INT
- 2015 vs Chiefs he was 16-29, 209 yds, 55% comp, 1 TD, 2 INTs
- 2015 vs Browns he was 3-4, 23 yds, 75%, O TD, 0 INT

Granted those aren't eye-popping numbers, but for a backup QB those are pretty good numbers, IMO. I just don't understand why there is so much push back and dismissal to adding a backup QB, who by all current signs, is head and shoulders above anything we have in Dallas. Especially when you consider that we're just talking about a one year rental that wouldn't put us in a tough position cap wise.
Yeah, I would be fine with this signing, but I don't know why they are so reluctant to bring in guys from outside sometimes.

I think they confused it with the 4th round. It used to be the 2nd round but cant complain about the recent picks. Even Gregory looks promising.
Or it’s just lazy bitching without actually knowing what you’re bitching about.

Actually, aside from Chaz Green, I think our 3rd rounders have been pretty damn good lately.

2018 Michael Gallup
2017 Jourdan Lewis
2016 Maliek Collins
2015 Chaz Green
2014 None
2013 Terrence Williams
2012 Tyrone Crawford
2011 DeMarco Murray
2010 None
I like Gallup, but he's still got a lot to prove. Murray was a good RB. The rest? Meh.

I think this may lack perspective.

Not saying this is wrong -- but I am unaware as to what team has a better track record in the third in that time. Do you know?

I don't but I would make the argument there were much better players on the board in the 3rd round that could have been taken instead of the likes of Green, Collins, and Crawford. As probably any team or fan could.

Its still too early on Gallup and Lewis, but I did like the picks. And its possible with Jerry seemingly getting pushed out of the process that the 3rd round becomes a strength...but that has just started happening the last 2 years.

I mean, you can definitely say that we missed on taking better players, but it's the third round, everyone is doing equal or worse. Getting a 5 year starter in the third is still better than 70% of the other teams.

Terrance Williams hurts because two picks later, Kenan Allen was taken. And JJ Wilcox hurts because a few picks later, Jordan Reed was taken.

But situationally, no one knew that Allen was a star and Williams wasn't. It becomes much more damning when you completely miss.

But finding starters as a good rate, doesn't make you accountable for not finding the SUPERSTAR, which hardly anyone did.

So let me guess, his 3 Wins were against the Browns...

I'd like to think we have insurance if (when?) Lee goes down, but we still don't know if he can play

The transition hasn't been slow, Stephen has been in nearly full control since probably 2013 or so.

Be prepared for a big season from Tank, and a cap-compromising contract.
Fine and good as long as he doesn't roll over and play like a schlub in 2019.
