I love this. It's honestly the only way to be really effective in my opinion. If you give a WR the ability to run his route freely he's going to get open. It's just not possible for a corner to keep up with a receiver who knows where he is going and a DB who doesn't. Plus throwing off the timing is what allows blitzes and pass rushers to get to the QB. If you allow free releases there is almost always a quick pass option that is open.
