The problem is we get so damn complacent after a great season. It's like we go 13-3 and instead of trying to improve we just try to keep everyone around and maintain the exact same roster and coaching staff. Which always leads to a disappointing season.

I wish we would just constantly look for ways to improve but we never do. We are much happier with status quo and survive based on getting lucky with a guy like Dak or someone like that.
Makes it even harder for us fans to watch, knowing there's enough talent to do better. There's just no excuse for our highs and lows to be so consistently extreme.
Then we have the perrenial powers (NE, Pitt, GB, and even Carolina) contend every year. And even Seattle remain relevant. IMO we have the talent to at least be in the conversation with these guys. But all these teams have a huge coaching advantage over us so...

From Brandon George:

The Cowboys' coaching staff didn't travel to the Senior Bowl to watch practices. Stayed back in Dallas to evaluate personnel and philosophy, Jerry Jones said, but to also study what other teams do on offense.

"Hmm. Our receivers just seem to run in straight lines and then turn around. Write that down."

Bart Scott, who played 11 years in the NFL and is currently doing radio in NY, remarked that he ran into Jerry in Mobile the other day. Evidently, Jerry called him "Raymond" and said "Thank you for your service," like he was a soldier or something. That's our "on top of things" GM, gents.
