Regardless of Wentz vs Dak, what's troof is we're gonna pay Top 5 cash for a non-Top 5 QB because of league-wide QB shortage of supply & demand.

Damned if we sign Dak for Top 5 cash and, if we don't, doomed finding someone better while settling with a JAG. Look at the Broncos who didn't want to be Dak'd into signing Osweiler for big money. While they didn't dish out big money, who can say they "won" when they've gone 9-7, 5-11 and 6-10 since.

Jerry is using the media as a negotiating tool, they'll eventually end up giving Elliott a deal that exceeds Gurley, hopefully just marginally with something like 4/60.

It's how the NFL works. Every free agent who is good is going to get paid like a top guy. And then a year from now someone's contract will exceed that and suddenly new guys are the top paid guys. Go through the list of highest paid QBs and it's rarely the actual top 5 QBs. It's just how contracts work in the NFL.

We just have to manage the cap.

Every team has windows. A good draft class or two dissipates two, three, fours years hence. The roster today looks very different three years from now.

Jerry also has windows. They're closing, the same way a roster evolves, looks different a year, two, three from now. Three years from now, Jerry has way fewer windows, and whatever he has left are slowly closing.

Thank God Seattle traded their first rounder to them and not us

Elliott is actually doing these morons a favor by demanding a new deal now, it's far better to extend him at 24 years old than at 26. They need to just sack up and pay him what he's worth, which would be an inflation-adjusted Gurley deal. If he's asking for something crazy like 18 AAV that's one thing, but assuming his demands are reasonable they need to just pay him.
