Report: Vikings have interest in George Selvie
Posted by Josh Alper on March 15, 2015, 3:48 PM EDT
Vikings coach Mike Zimmer called defensive end Michael Johnson after Johnson visited the Vikings on Saturday and tried to convince Johnson not to get on a plane to Cincinnati.
Johnson took the flight to Ohio, however, and he won’t be making a return flight. Johnson signed with the Bengals on Sunday, leaving the Vikings without the defensive line help they were hoping to add.
They may be moving on to George Selvie in their attempt to get it. Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press reports that the team has kept in touch with Selvie’s representatives since the “legal tampering” window opened on March 7 and that he may visit Minnesota this week.
Selvie started 13 games for the Cowboys last season and had 30 tackles and three sacks. That helped the Dallas defense outperform expectations although Selvie had a bit more individual success with seven sacks while making 16 starts in 2013. If he does land in Minnesota, he’ll join Everson Griffen and Brian Robison in the rotation for the Vikings.
