Jerry Jones is guilty of owning a franchise that has a .500 record over the last 17 years. And during that time, that franchise has remained arguably the most popular in professional sports.
Jones hasn’t been recorded making outrageous racist statements, he hasn’t been accursed of using performance-enhancing drugs and he hasn’t bullied a Cowboys player to the point that they quit in the middle of the season.Apparently that’s enough to make folks dislike him.
But he again made SI.com’s list of the 35 most disliked people in sports.
“The outspoken Jones was named Least Favorite Sports Personality in a 2003 SI poll,” the description read next to Jones’ picture. “Over a decade later, Jones hasn’t missed a beat — continuing to promote ‘America’s Team’ to the media and making many splashy personnel decisions without much success to show for it.”
Donald Sterling, Alex Rodriguez, Richie Incognito and Lance Armstrong were some of the others to make the cut.
