Three Up, Three Down

NEW ORLEANS -- After a 49-17 loss to the New Orleans Saints, the Dallas Cowboys come home to regroup during the bye week. Before we move forward with them, we let you know who did well and who didn't in our weekly Three Up, Three Down.

Three Up

DeMarco Murray. The starting running back was able to produce when given the ball. After getting just four carries in last weeks' victory over the Minnesota Vikings, Murray rushed 16 times for 89 yards and one touchdown on Sunday night.

DeMarcus Ware. What is it about the Superdome that makes Ware play so well? He had one sack, a tackle for loss, two quarterback hurries and a pass breakup in his return from a thigh injury. Ware seems bothered by the injury still but he was an effective presence.

Dwayne Harris. The returner left the game with a neck injury, after getting hit out of bounds, only to come back. Harris finished with 121 kick return yards, marking the third time he's reached the century mark this season.

Three Down

Bill Callahan. The offensive coordinator/play caller runs an offense that didn't get receiverDez Bryant the ball, he had just one catch, and it went 0-9 on third down plays. Oh yeah, let's not forget about tight end Jason Witten, who had just two catches for 27 yards.

Monte Kiffin. Kiffin's defense allowed 625 yards, 40 first downs, a 100-yard rusher, a 100-yard receiver and a quarterback to throw for 392 yards. The defense has some health issues, but it couldn't get the Saints off the field.

Tony Romo. The offensive problems are not totally his fault, but of his 24 pass attempts, two were almost intercepted and he completed 10 passes for 128 yards. He threw to Bryant and Witten a combined six times, those totals need to increase.

I jacked the title up. Can we bring back Rob Ryan to fix it, please?

Feh. Wade Phillips is the guy they need. He's Mr. Fixit, remember? Just ask him.
Ahh yes. The turnstile that is our coaching door had me momentarily confused.

This seemed like a good idea at the time.

Ware personally blew containment on 2-3 long runs. He wasn't really up.

Which is something he did a lot of last year too.

It sucks to admit it, but Ware is on a decline and probably doesn't have much time left at all as a consistent difference maker.

He's probably going to have to be rotated a lot more going forward if he's going to keep putting up sack numbers.
